Just wondering what everyone's favorite version of "I Got A Woman" is.
(y)(y)LIVE!!
Hope the poll works. This is my first time attempting to mess with one.
Personally, I prefer the 72 Elvis On Tour Version for how his voice jumps with "both day and ni-ight" and the whole choppiness of "I said I gotta gotta wo-woman way-way across-cross town, she's ahhh good good good to me oh YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH WELL SHE"S MY BABYYYYYYYYY don't you understand..." He did this in later versions, but this was always much lasier, where he starts out like that, but then goes to normal half way through it (I gotta gotta wom-woman way-way across town she's good to me!) And plus, he does'nt draw out the Amen too much.
Original recording for me.
I think that every song from TTWII is the best version he did.
I've always preferd the original version (y)
In the seventies it was too fast
The version with Elvis in it! ROFL!!
Of course!

It's not one of my favorite songs. Wouldn't have bothered me a bit if he had dropped it from his set list. I especially started to hate it when he tacked on the "Amen" ending and started having J.D. do that annoying "dive bomber" ending.
My favorite version (and I use the term "favorite" loosely) would be the studio version on his first album.
1977 or 1976, or any of the later versions.
Just love those long versions with the fooling around.
The best version Elvis did was the 1956 studio version but for me personally I prefer some of the live versions done by Ray Charles as I think they are the best ever.
My problem with the ones in the later 70s are that they last 8 minutes, with about 1:30 of Well well well well, 2:00 of the song, 1:00 of Amen, 1:30 Dialogue, :30 dive bomb, :30 of "Oh, he can do it better," :30 or 2nd dive bomb, and then :30 I Got a Woman reprise.
IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:notworth y

and there's the video (That's my 2nd fav. version.)
Definitley from EOT Hampton Roads Virigina April 9th 1972 Evening Show..the engergy level is incredible..second would go to TTWII version.
I agree with you there, after EOT, he'd kind of cut short, you know "I Gotta gotta woman, way way cros town, she's good to me>" Instead of the classic "I gotta gotta wom-woman way-way cross across town shes good good good good to me. OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
