I stumbled across this and I wanted to share it with the MB. Some huge Jerry Lee Lewis fan has posted some vidoes on YT comparing JLL to songs that Elvis and other greats have also sung. What do you think??

I actually like this..his voice is so haunting on the opening lines of the song. But still can't hold a candle to Elvis' version. The best being on the Genre CD Elvis Country 2006 (y):notworthy:!:
It won't be popular here, but Honestly I like Jerry Lee's version better. If we're talking pure vocal ability, it'll almost always go to Elvis. Myself though I get something more out of Jerry Lee's version, being familiar with him and his story, and hearing him talk about regrets in a documentary I watched recently. I can just buy the song more from him, his interpretation . Thats my preference, but Elvis did it well too.

I just love THE VOICE, but Elvis also has the charm, charisma and personality that just goes with THE VOICE and it just comes through his music. It may also be that I'm not a big C & W fan and JLL's version sounds awefully country to me.
JLL was a very talented musician and Elvis ' piano playing doesn't even come close to Lewis, but as far as the music arrangement, THE VOICE, the performance -- Elvis just had it ALL!!! What can I say????
We don't often hear Jerry singing a ballad and I have to say I did enjoy this very much but I still don't hear the depth and control in the song that Elvis has in his.

This man acts like such a jerk, I don't care for anything he does. But this isn't bad because he is acting decent. Nice as it is, there is no comparing Elvis' version. Elvis' voice is so much better.
