The last thing I played today was my original (UK) Elvis Is Back LP, in glorious mono.;)
Welcome, Kayley. What an exciting time this must be for you. Well, it's an exciting time for all Elvis fans, but it's as if you've discovered a new world--happy exploring!
GLORIOUS MONO???? :blink:Quote:

Yeah, Mike, you're right. There's certainly no glory in your mono Speedway LP--I stand corrected.:P
PRECISELY!!! (h)Quote:

Last night-Dragon Heart-hehhh-just because I haven't listened to it for a while...and i enjoy all those jokes...I used to call them crew-cuts (y)
But the problem is-what should I listen to tonite?Hmmmm...
That's interesting Lildarling that you enjoy listening to all of the between song banter from Elvis on DRAGONHEART? For me, that's one of the drawbacks when I listen to DRAGONHEART or IT'S MIDNIGHT...for as great as Elvis' voice sounds during these shows, I just can't get past how much time he spends talking, goofing around, etc. Whenever I hear that, I just keep thinking about how many more songs he could have performed instead of all the on-stage banter! But, that's VERY COOL that you enjoy the banter!! (h)Quote:

Not to nitpick...
It's actually been a while since I've played either, but as I recall, there are worlds of difference between It's Midnight and Dragonheart. In my opinion, Elvis' vocal condition, his mood, and state of mind in general were far better on the former.
But generally speaking, I prefer the less chatty shows as well. It would be different being there in person (and that is who Elvis was playing for--not us, 30 years later) or even watching video, but just listening to some of the horseplay and such doesn't always come across with the same punch it originally had.
Have to agree Bobby and Mike,
although the 'chatty' shows are great to have...and to listen to now and again....if you had to pick a show to listen to...when you only have the time for one.....doubtful you would go with this type of show.
On a separate issue...regarding Dragonheart....i thought that it had a bad rap.....i thought it was a reasonably good show  ...and though i agree with some of the things that have been said....its by no means as bad as its made out by some......and just to be sure...i am playing it right now (y)
The Memphis record, over and over and over again, to and from work in my car. I just LOOOOOOOOOOVE that record (y) :worthy: :worthy:  (y)

And since I enjoyed it so much I decided to make a playlist with country/blues/folk only songs. I selected songs throughout Elvis' whole carreer. Fantastic! All of a sudden I hear songs that I've last heard many months ago. Tracks like "All I Needed Was The Rain", "Hi Heel Sneakers", "Clean Up Your Own Backyard", "DOminic", "You'll Think Of Me" and "Susan When She Tried".... amazing...
There's no artist that covers so many genres and musicstyles. And no one has more voices than Elvis.
Great huh? And it's a great singalong CD too. I've reached a point now that I don't even care at a stoplight if people look at me weird cos I'm singing along :lmfao: It's a true "can't sit still, gotta join in" fantastic record (y) (y) (y)Quote:
