Paying for an autograph

How do you all think about paying money for an autograph of the TCB band or other people who knew Elvis.

Last year I was at a convention, and if you wanted an autograph of James Burton, Jerry Scheff, Ronnie Tutt or Glenn D. Hardin you had to pay 5 Euro and only on a TCB poster you also had to buy there.

Come on, these people are loaded with money, do they really need to rip off the 'loyal' Elvis fans.

Last year I saw The TCB Band and the Sweets with 'Elvis 2007', there
was an autograph session after the show and I got all their autographs
for free on the backside of my ticket bill. You could buy pics and posters
too, but you didn't have to. I agree it would be sad and not ok if they
started asking for money for their autographs....:blink:

I feel very strongly about this. No money for autographs. Period.
When did Elvis ever charge? Okay, I'm done before I say something that
will get me banned.

I have nearly all of the TCB band's autographs..I would get them every summer in Vegas. I also have Vernon Presley's autograph along with Jerry Schilling, Joe Esposito and Charlie Hodge. In March of 74 Gail and I hung out all morning and early afternoon in the lobby of the Astroworld Hotel and got more autographs that day. They were flattered back in the day to be handing out autographs..what a shame that they now think it's OK to make money from their connection to Elvis. I guess they are still TCB'ing.:whistling:whistling:blink::blink:

When it comes to paying for Elvis' autographs its so hard to tell whether its really authenic or not. Especially when dealing with people on ebay you have to watch out for crooks!(n)

I got Joe E.'s autograph for free when he came to my home town. He was selling his books but he was signing pictures and other books that wasn't his.

I got all the TCB Band autographs, including the Sweets and Imperials, when they last came to Sydney in 2006.

How?

I walked right up to them at their hotel the next day and asked.

I would imagine the charging for autographs was not their idea, and more to do with the organisers of the event.

Reading all the posts here, I think you're right. I always thought it were the TCB members who got greedy. Thanks all, I was getting bad thoughts about the TCB band, now it's all cleared up(y)

The only person's autograph I have is Jerry Schilling and that was in one of the limited copies of his book that were really signed by him...

i have many autographs in my collection and i understand why it bothers you that many charge for there signatures now. But it costs money to print the 8 by ten photos. why should they have to eat that exspence. so i can see why they would have to charge. But i have run into some who tried to charge me for there autograph when i asked them for there signature on something i already had.

Hmmmm. I believe that Elvis wouldn't have approved of the ripping off the fans. And by that I don't mean only the expensive autographs but all the products that uses Elvis' name. And they are a lot.

I still say no, okay, photos, yes someone has to absorb the price - the people who put the event on, perhaps? What if you go up to someone with an album/cd/book you've already paid for? Elvis signed more autographs in his short lifetime than did anyone else, I'd dare to say. Never once did he ask for a dime. And these millions of autographed papers/menus/playbills/album covers, etc are worth a lot of money. They aren't rare! Some member on this board probably have more than one!

Can't say I was ever an autograph seeker . IMO, IF you want a picture, a menue or whatever; you pay for it. IF it's just an autograph, there should be no charge . Friends of mine in the UK are given all the autographs and take pictures with all the TCB Band and are never charged. So, I guess I don't get it. :blink:

I agree they should not charge. But if its a photo . you can not expect them to give it free.
