I never really cared for this outfit.
Me either. These suits just weren't Elvis. 1974 seemed to be a really strange year for him...like a real turning point although the next year he seemed really happy and then went down with a bang in 1976 from which he never recovered.
Diane
They were different for sure............I would rather see him in his two-piece suits from 1972. They were more Elvis than this...........but as always he looked good in it.
In 74 I thought he was really looking for change of some kind-but he just never got comfortable with the idea. I think he worried about change being for the worse, and change takes a real commitment to that change.
I think he just had no idea what and how to really change-without someone he respected pushing him towards it.
Agreed, 1974 was the year that Elvis needed to be challenged and more importantly he wanted to change himself. It's such an up and down year 1974, Elvis was at a presipis and unfortunately tipped over the other side and never fully recovered to his 1973 peak all but a few times.
Fantastic suit!!!!!!!!!!
It would have been better with the croach decoration though.
from Elvis Special 1976
No, it's from the Elvis Monthly Special 1976, suit photo is from '74
thanks rickb, i forgot to list the Elvis Special is an Elvis Monthly yearly book publication.
I like this suit - especially the pants - both the design and fit on Elvis is tremendous!!! :D (y)
But, I have to agree, I don't think the suit was dynamic enough for his shows. IMO, there is something missing that makes the suit almost too casual for the stage. I also miss seeing a beautiful huge belt draped around his waist.
I really like the two piece suits.
the vegas summer session 1974 showed elvis in top form. tanned, looking good, slim, and highly motivated. imo the last time he looked perfect (y).
I saw before but don't like soo much, preferer others!
