hi gerrianne i too did not know this, i went 3 years ago it was very quiet and the old lady sitting inside the house told me that she was a personal friend of the family knew them all growing up and when i asked about the house which i assume most do i was told that the roof had been replaced a few yrs ago but that the walls and flooring were the original that vernand had built, now if this is not true then it raises ethical questions like why are the guides giving out false info and as you said why has Vernon and others help with this myth, it will be worth asking when you get there,
