Deffinately agreed on that one Chris, that was the version I chose to include on my recent Ballads compilation, Platinum has some very satisfying alternate performances from the 70's for sure.Quote:

Right now i am listening to C.C Rider from 'Just Pretend With Elvis ' Las Vegas 12/13/1975. He seems in a very good mood . If i dont know the year, i would have thought that this is from his 1972s concert,... :)

thanks NR, it is a great shows :) probably one of the best elvis shows on CD, despite the year 1975...2 years before he's gone. :'(
some of Elvis' best shows came out of 74-75. My favourite live year is 1970..but 1974 comes oh so close. (y)Quote:

1974 was an exceptional year..all but towards the end of the year :'( thats when you could see what could, and eventually did happen to the greatest entertainer the world would ever see.
1975 seemed more consistant...if less outstanding...but the 'Just Pretend' show remains one of the best ( well, one of my favourites anyhow (y) )
Yesterday was Elvis Day in my house ;) :D (y) Alot of Elvis' music !
Pot Luck, The Nashville Marathon, Today, With a Song in my Heart, The Man in White vol 2, The Hampton concert, Adios the final performance, R-rated Elvis, Command Performance, Lost Treasures, Elvis’ 66 back in Nashville, So High............ :D
"Just pretend, i?m holdin? youuu..."
I love that one!
I found two great CDs at a Flea market (garage sale) "SUN Rockabillies Vol 1 & 2" ....man some great music ! Some of the music never got out because ole Sam Phillips allegedly was a "mean Mr Mistreater !"
Also played a lot of Blues - and a sprinkling of Elvis: Platinum Disc 4 and my compilations !

Today it's been the Jungle Room Sessions FTD for me. That CD was such a revelation when it came out, but it's no less of a treat to me today. The clarity is so striking, and it seems to me that other recent releases with Jungle Room material don't have the same warmth and ambience heard on that disc. :hmm: Elvis's vocals sound even better, and nearly equally as pleasing is the sound of the core band. It's not just the fact that you can hear them--that they are not drowned out by the horns and strings, but what they were actually playing was just so darn good. Really some beautiful work had been covered up for so long. (I know these are different takes, but you get my point.) You really notice it on some of the opening notes. These takes just really give them a whole new life; they are more effective, and seem to hit home a little better. Listen to the beginnings of songs like Love Coming Down, The Last Farewell, It's Easy For You, Never Again--whew! I mean the songs are great all the way through, but I guess you notice the difference so much more in the beginnings because Elvis is not singing yet and because they made for awesome, new, first impressions.
Glad to hear it, Ron. Everyone else should do the same. (y)
For me today is "From the vaults, vol 1"
I can't decide if I like it or not :( , but my neighbors decided: They hate it!
