The name has nothing to do with the suit. So it's not perfect. The only reason why the fans started to call this suit this way was because of the picture on the "Burning Love" single. If if would have been the "Blue Nail" on that picture, then that suit would have been called "Burning Love".

But it fits because red is associated with fire.
Re: Red Pinwheel (aka) Red Matador or Red Burning Love Jumpsuit (1972)
The red jumpsuit and cape with white inside lining shows a pattern of spinning wheels.
The outfit was worn together with the Gold Belt from January 1971 to November 1972.
Re: Red Pinwheel (aka) Red Matador or Red Burning Love Jumpsuit (1972)
I'm sorry, but I don't care for red jumpsuits.
It's not the colour, I have seen Elvis in 'off stage' clothes in red, and he looks good.
Prefer white jumpsuits.

I agree with you. I also wished he had used original belts instead of that gold International belt so many times. I thought it looked cool with his casual clothing but not on jumpsuits.
The only time I think he looked cool in the Red Matador was the opening of ELVIS ON TOUR backstage. Maybe if they would release the live footage of him when he wore it, we might feel different about it.
Re: Red Pinwheel (aka) Red Matador or Red Burning Love Jumpsuit (1972)
The International Gold belt looked cool on the Adonis suit, other than that I agree the original belts would have been better.

I agree. Perhaps it's because the Adonis suit is a simple enough design. I like when he wore with the two piece suits and that Cisco kid looking design without sleeves.

Re: Red Pinwheel (aka) Red Matador or Red Burning Love Jumpsuit (1972)
I saw E wear it in Little Rock, it looked fabulous, but it did (maybe the lighting) appear much darker, close to the color of it in the tour photo book they sold at the 72 concerts.
Re: Red Pinwheel (aka) Red Matador or Red Burning Love Jumpsuit (1972)
He did wear it at Litle Rock i have pics of him in the suit at Little Rock. In the jumpsuit section it is listed as being worn at Little Rock April 17, 1972. (8:30 pm). Little Rock, AR.
And then i found these

Re: Red Pinwheel (aka) Red Matador or Red Burning Love Jumpsuit (1972)
Hi,
I was wondering if there might have been 2 copies of this jumpsuit, the one he wore in ELVIS ON TOUR and another one worn in November of 1972. The only reason I am asking is that I have seen some film footage from Bob Heis in El Paso, Texas. He comes out not wearing the cape, and here is a unique question, I think this one is a different one that was auctioned off years ago at Butterfield & Butterfield. Just looking at the bottom of the kickpleats which are different than the pictures of him in concert. Also the back on the film footage shows there are (5) design motifs on the rear of the jumpsuit, not the (4) that appear on the White Pinwheel or Black Pinwheel designs. Please advise if there are any clear shots from the El Paso show that shows the rear of the jumpsuit.
Re: Red Pinwheel (aka) Red Matador or Red Burning Love Jumpsuit (1972)
I have had communication with B&K Enterprises about this and I don't exactly understand their position on it. They stated to me that the jumpsuit was not designed by Gene Doucette, however at this time 1971/ 1972 Gene was fully on-board with the Elvis Presley project through I.C. Costume Company. I believe he did design it, however the Red version is totally different than that of the WHITE (Red Lion Suit), and the BLACK (Matador), in the fact that the white and black versions are exact copies with the waffle diamond studs and the accent color. The Red version had REVERSE Diamond studs. Now there is another issue. Based on film footage taken on November 10, 1972 in El Paso, TX, it clearly shows that there were (5) design motifs on the back of the jumpsuit. According to B&K they said it was added after his intial outings with the jumpsuit during filming of Elvis On Tour, however during the three (3) concerts performed for that tour he wore the cape, in November's tour, he was not wearing the cape as he entered the stage. I am hoping that someone who might have been to any of the April 1972 shows that was based on ELVIS On Tour and the November 1972 tour. Does anyone have any photos taken of the rear of the jumpsuit pre-November tour and on the November 1972 tour.
Thank you so much for whatever help you can provide as I am in the beginning stages of writing a book on the jumpsuits.
Re: Red Pinwheel (aka) Red Matador or Red Burning Love Jumpsuit (1972)
I am hoping to see if there is any other photos other than the ones posted here on TCB World. I sure would appreciate any more that anyone else can provide any here.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
Re: Red Pinwheel (aka) Red Matador or Red Burning Love Jumpsuit (1972)
On November 10, 1972, Elvis appeared in El Paso, Texas, wearing the Red Pinwheel/Burning Love Jumpsuit. The late Bob Heis filmed this show. It was a rare show as Elvis chose to wear this jumpsuit, one of the famous ELVIS On Tour jumpsuits, used 2 tours earlier in April 1972. In the film that Mr. Heis shot, it shows Elvis several times from the rear, and it is noticeable that unlike the White version and the Black version of this jumpsuit, there were 5 design motifs on the back. I am doing some research for a potential book and am looking for any clear still photos of this jumpsuit from this El Paso show. Please anyone out there that can help, please post it here.
Thanks to everyone.
