Today 39 years ago, Martin Luther King was shot, on 04.04.1968 in Memphis, T on the balcony of Lorraine Motels at 18.01 o'clock. After an examination of the weapon, two fingerprints of the several times previously convicted James Earl Ray were found. He was arrested after 2-month escape in London. In 1980 Kings birthplace and some other buildings in the surroundings became a site (possibly the Nationwide Historic: Place of national historical meaning) explains. Then a national holiday followed not least in 1986 incentive of the musician Stevie Wonder there, to honour Kings, Martin Luther King Day who is committed on the third Monday in January every year. On the 18th January, 1993 all governments of 50 US federal states celebrated for the first time officially this holiday. In addition, "Martin Luther King Jr . Memorial Foundation" bought in 1987 Lorraine Motel and converted it in "National Civil Rights Museum". Many cities of the USA have named one of her streets according to the civil rights campaigner and in castle Harris, Pennsylvania, the city hall carries Kings names. Martin Luther King was an US-American Baptist's pastor and civil rights campaigner. He counts worldwide to the most important representatives in the fight against the suppression of the Afro-Americans and black Africans and for social justice. King which always preached the nonviolence was attacked three times violent, at least one bomb attempt survived and was arrested between 1955 and 1968 more than 30 spots.
