Two-tone Street Suit (aka) Penguin Suit (1975)
This suit design was worn on and off the stage as the pictures show, the suit came in three different styles Brown, Blue & reverse pattern, it is entirely possible that the suit worn on stage started life as a street suit and crossed over to a one day suit?
Known Dates Worn:-
midnight show August 19th 1975
This is an UGLY suit :'(
I belive it was used on stage only in Vegas a few times, it could even be only one time, august or december 1975.
Maybe we will have some new info on this suit when Sandi Pichon`s book comes out :D she saw many shows at that time, and she have a good picture of the suit on the cover of the book, but it looks like the covers are change now, anyway, i will but up the pictures i have.
I have been checking around a little, Elvis used this suit on stage, ont the midnight show august 19th 1975, and Sandi Pichon will have good pictures of Elvis on stage in that "ugly" suit, in her book :D

i think when i saw Return To Splendour, they said that this suit was designed by Elvis...is this confirmed?
definately not the nicest jumpsuits for sure. but i think with a few more views at thew pics with him wearing it it could grow on us.

Just have a look at the pic above where Elvis is waving his hand while stepping aboard the airplane. The black and white parts are reversed. So there is a street suit that resembles the stage suit, but which is not identical.
Maybe someone spread this rumor and we all keep repeating it.
Is there a "street" pic showing Elvis in that very same suit he wore on August 19, 1975 during the midnight show? If yes, my doubts will be removed.

This suit wasn't a stage outfit !
The first time Elvis worn the suit on stage was because he was late and walk straight on stage .
Its a private wardrobe 2 piece and there were a few of them
White/black Black /white darkblue/lightblue Beige/brown I know I miss a few but these come to mind at first.
Also long coats for each !
I like them but its a matter of taste (It makes Elvis bigger ahumm)
It was also fashion in those days to have two tone clothes.

I agree it is one possible reason, I think in 1975 there were a lot of two piece suits and a lot of cross over with the private clothes e.g. Elvis wore a two piece Cisco privately which did not (as far as I know) show up on stage, there were also leather tan two pieces worn privately so the bariers at this period in time were not as rigid.Quote:

Sorry but I think this outfit makes Elvis look terrible as do most of the 2 piece suits from this time,he looks too heavy and fussed.(n)

I have to disagree with you here. This suite might have looked bad but the White 2 Piece Suite Elvis wore in April of 1975 and maybe March Elvis looked great in it.Quote:

yes Sandi is great lady...She's good friend of mine. We use to live 45 minutes from each other. *has ruff copy of her first book.* As for this suit. I believe if I remember right he went to doctor and was late, come out on stage with the suit on. Because following day Elvis had cancel rest of the engagment because of illness. I wish he wore this one more than once on stage. I like it. To me because he lost a lot of weight it looks a little big one him.lol
Here is picture of her getting scarf from me at one of my shows. I know you can't see her face it is. Her good friend that was taken photos died not to long after this picture. She was awesome friend to me and Sandi, she will be missed.

Two of the Penguin Suits are on display at the Elvis Museum in Pigeon Fordge, TN. Here are a couple of pictures (sorry one is not very good).
