Re: Lucky (aka) Blue Swirl Jumpsuit (1972-1973)
CORRECTION!!!
Elvis did not wear the blue swirl suit in fresno,ca in 73'. He wore the blue nail suit. (kind of looks like the rain suit but with blue studs on it.) I'll download pics from the fresno shows. He also came in 74' and wore the blue rainbow suit.

And I'm sorry but I have to correct you. What you call the "Blue Rainbow" (1974) actually IS the "Blue Swirl". That is the original designer's name.
The suit most people know as the "Blue Swirl" (1972) is in fact the "Lucky Suit", and that is the suit we are talking about in this topic.
The suit you are referring to as worn in Fresno in 1973 was not the "Blue Nail" but the "Blue Rain". See picture attached.
The "Blue Nail" is a powder blue jumpsuit known from the previous year.
Re: Lucky (aka) Blue Swirl Jumpsuit (1972-1973)
I enjoy your posts, Leroy, But people are going to call these suits what they want. If you ask 100 Elvis fans to identify this suit, 99 out of 100 will call it the Blue Swirl no matter what Gene Doucette supposedly called it in 1972. And the '74 suit will always be the Blue Rainbow. The Fans RULE!!! Let there be no Elvis police.
Re: Lucky (aka) Blue Swirl Jumpsuit (1972-1973)
It is both the Blue swirl and the Lucky suit, both are correct. It was designed after country singer Dale Evans as Gene mentions in the B&k dvd. It is blue and has swirl design hence '' blue swirl" but also the small heart studs are patterned to look like 4 leaf clovers hence ''the lucky suit" . both are correct. This is also a great suit to compare with the Purple owl (see why it is and always was purple on the owl suit thread ), because flash bulbs made the purple owl suit look blue, but with this suit in some pics flash bulbs made this suit look pale blue or greenish in color.
