Elvis Books, Books, Books! where to start?

Hi. I was wondering if some of you could help me out. I am reading the Guralnick books right now but was wondering what books you guys recommend. There are so many I have trouble picking through. Someone suggested the Nash books, and those by those around him (which I've read some and even some of those seem contrived) Thanks for your help!

Well it all depends on wich books you like, much text or as me many pictures.

Here are some of my favorites.

The life of Elvis Presley (Shean Shaver)
A vital book imo. Maby the best. It might be old, but the quality is still good. All the Shaver books are gold.

Evis '70 - Bring him back (Joseph Tunzi)
A grate photo book for 1970. i also like "For the first time ever" and Dagmars "Elvis!"

The concert years (Stein Erik Skar)
Another vital book, if the 70s concerts intressts you.

Elvis what happend? (Red West, Sonny West,Dave Hebbler)
We all know the details about this book i guess.

Elvis Day by day (Peter Guralnick, Ernst J?rgensen)
This book covers the 50's very good.

Both the Behind the image books are very good aswell, i am reading Behind the image vol2 right now.

Just remember to take them all with a grain of salt. If he did as many drugs as are claimed by some he could have ,IMO, never lived past 30. But if he was what the COl. wanted him to be seen as- never smoked- never drank, never cursed, never lost his temper(let alone a bad prescription drug problem) he would qualify for sainthood. Read what ever you can get your hands on-consider each source and their reasons for their book(or books as some of these people revisit Elvis's story every few years to "remember new and startling details of his life") and make up your own mind on who he was.

Elvis and Gladys give us a great insight on their relationship. The first few chapters give us Gladys family history which is relevant, so don't skip through it. I would have loved to have met and known Gladys Presley. More so than Vernon, I think....Gladys was the rock in that family that's for sure.

    Cool

Yeah Elvis and Gladys is a good read, but according to Billy Smith, some of the stuff about Glady's (and obviously his) family background just isn't true.
