It looks like Sony Legacy is planning a new boxset. Amazon already has it in pre-order, but no more information than a title and the label boxset so far.

Hmmm...certainly an interesting title... :hmm:

I am guessing this is going to be a box set focusing on the 50's music, since that is what EPE is celebrating this year!! ;)

Nice set but a lot of money.

The "unconfirmed" live dates listed on disc 3 are the 10 tracks from the long awaited final Louisiana Hayride Show on Dec 15, 1956. Quite an exciting addition! There's also a lengthy booklet, replica memorabilia etc.

I've done a brief overview of the tracklist:

Although the set is quite large and includes 5 CD's and an 80-page book, at almost $150.00 (U.S.), this set is pretty expensive...dare I also say overpriced...ESPECIALLY for a mainstream release!! (n)

As much as the set intrigues me, and it actually does appear to be something different than the usual mainstream type releases, I'm gonna have to give this one some serious thought as to whether I want to invest the money... :hmm:

I did discover just now that if you order the set from http://www.myplaydirect.com/elvis-presley/details/25845208 the set is only $109.99 (U.S.) plus shipping AND by ordering through the official website you also get a vinyl replica of the ELVIS PRESLEY EP as well!! (y)

Well now that I've discovered this, I guess I'll definitely be picking this one up!!

I'm anxious to hear that live version of Paralysed.

It would be nice to just be able to order the Little Rock show by itself. Thats a little much for me to pay for a box set and I have a bunch of 50's stuff already. Just the same, the set list and packaging look cool.

Overpriced: yes. Yet, the coolest and smarter Elvis mainstream release in a decade! (Well aside the Complete Masters set)

This is a winner.

Now this is BIG news for hardcore 50's fans as I, that's serious unheard material! This is seriously the best Elvis release since hmmm... The Complete 50's Masters? Man I feel like a teenager back in '92!!!! I wasn't that excited about new Elvis stuff since then! Great review man!

AND THEY ADD A VINYL TO IT!!! WOW, I'm Happy, don't care if a starve a month, I'm getting this one.

It is also to notice that the '56 albums "Elvis Presley" and "Elvis" plus singles, are also being released in the same fashion as the "Elvis is Back"/"Something for Everybody", in order to also keep restoring Elvis original catalogue for the casual new fans who doesn't care for an expencive boxset.

I wonder if this means no FTD SUN project disc - wasn't there an article on Elvis Infonet with Ernest saying they had secured the concert for that package?

Well maybe there is another complete Hayride show from '55 and that's the one for the SUN project!!! as the unreleased concert in this set is from Dec. '56 which in anycase does not fits as "SUN" period, but as "RCA" period.

I recently e-mailed Sony(UK) to ask if this box set would get a UK release and what were it's chart prospects. I received the following e-mail today:

"Yes it will be released in the UK. Itís a high end piece so will get focused but limited promo. Not sure itís chart eligible but with the numbers we can sell it wouldnít bother the UK top 40."

For information.
