Not easy 'cause sometimes it just depends on the mood I'm in.

The only sure thing for me is
NUMBER ONE - ELVIS (y)

The follow-ups are:

2. Bruce Springsteen (great photo Paul!) - also a sure number two for me!
3. John Mellencamp
4. Sheryl Crow

5. there are more number fives than one: Tom Jones, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Billy Joel.

And I have to agree with Curtis on Jerry Reed - imo he's awesome.

Hmm. Everyone is picking Elvis for Number one. Let me just say that Elvis is my all time favorite, so he's my number one also. I just thought that the list was supposed to be favorite singers besides Elvis so I didn't include him in my selection. :king:

My top 5 looks like this:

1: Elvis Presley
2: Michael Bubl?
2: Rene Froger
3: Ilse DeLange
4: B.B King
5: Tina Turner

The numbers 2 on the list are 2 artists i have much respect for and 2 great singers and entertainers, so i put them both on that number 2 position. And if you look at my list you can see that there are 5 different music styles:

Elvis Presley: pop/rock/country/blues/gospel
Michael Bubl?: pop/jazz-standards
Rene Froger: pop and also jazz (he is like elvis, he can can sing almost every music style)
Ilse Delange: country - pop- rock
B.B King: Blues
Tina Turner: pop- R&B- soft rock

I just needed a new list. I had an older one prior to this, so feel free to complain about me cheating (the previous one has been deleted).

If it's for non-classical music, I think my list looks should be like this:

1. Elvis (of course)
2. Hank Williams sr.
3. Johnny Cash (anyone heard 'My Mother's Hymn Book'?)
4. Bing Crosby
5. Roy Orbison

I guess I just can't stop loving that good old-timey music - all these people in my top 5 have passed away. The only recently made country I can stand are perhaps Billy Gilman and renditions by older people who stayed alive - Willie Nelson (man, I love storytellers), Dolly Parton (she's from an older generation too and I think she IS gifted, though I won't listen to her all the time) and of course Jerry Lee Lewis (do they still call him 'the Killer'?).

I like jazz too. Louis Armstrong was special. I think he could have been fascinating working together with a guy like Elvis. Anyway, there are lotsa more artists I do like, but a majority has passed away.

I feel drawn to that good old-timey music, I must admit. If it's for bands/groups, I'd have to give a thumbs-up for the Carter Family. They knew a lot about picking and singing for sure.

I guess my peers would consider me a fool for liking that good old-timey music. I'm proud to love that stuff, anyway I try to look at it.

Thank you! That post is a few yrs. old - it's good when artists reach maturity in good health and spirits though.

If you take Elvis for example - it never got boring; always reinventing his act.

There's not a fake artist among your selection. Very nice!
