No doubt there are a few women here who have had husbands or boyfriends who just cannot understand the attraction to EP. The fact that he has been gone for nearly 32 years only adds to the mystery.

How do you explain it all?

I have been very very blessed through the years. Every boyfriend (or later husband) knew ELVIS went with the package. They were self confident in their own selves, and my feelings for them, not to feel threatened by the special place ELVIS held in my heart since I was a little girl....and every boyfriend I ever had (or later husband) escorted me to see ElVIS :king: live in Vegas, or on tour, and although never the fan I was ....they were fans too.(y)

EDIT: Thinking about it.....I actually had one boyfriend that was even a bigger fan than me....though that didn't seem possibly to me....if I was honest with myself... he was. He went to MANY more concerts and shows...and had one the most fabulous ELVIS collections EVER.

that's why i filed for a divorce................

Just kidding...:)

I am lucky that my boyfriend and I are both Elvis fans, actually he is a bigger fan than myself...life just a little bit better when you share something in common .

My husband doesn't like Elvis.....and I don't like the modern music that he enjoys.....but we like each other....so we manage!LOL

Ever since I was a little girl.. Ah, to heck with it. No, no problems here. But I seem to be more of a 70's fan, since many seem to remember Elvis as he was when they got to know him (around 1960 or so, in this case).

I was an Elvis fan before I met my husband. He is not a fan but I don't think that he doesn't like him. In fact, he is the first to buy me things about Elvis. Anyway, I'd rather he didn't ask me to choose...

Think that`s bad honey??....Try explaining your obsession with a male icon,as a man,to your girlfriend/wife!!!!..... A woman throwing longing looks at her Elvis posters seems easy enough to explain.... but a man....!!!!! Man,that`s gonna get her worried somethin` terrible!:D:D:D

Liz,
It's that "it" factor that we've all discussed before. Nobody can explain it or understand it!

Lainey

I guess I never tried to explain it. It is what it is. I don't think he has ever questioned me about it either. Come to think of it, no one in my family has. My parents listened to Elvis. That's where I developed my love for his voice. My intrigue about the man came much later.

Elvis, as we all know, is a phenomenon. He is a product of our culture and one of the few modern American icons who can be embraced unilaterally. Elvis is America. He is the rags-to-riches, small-town-boy-makes-good, Cinderella story come to life.

Agreed with Sleepy Jack. LOL. My girfriends now and of past did not understand why Elvis is the best and why I am such a huge Elvis fan. All the records, CD's, and plates. I have been asked by them why do you love Elvis so much? I say I love the music. There is nothing better. IMO.

My husband won't go to Memphis with me...thank goodness....he would ruin it for me.......he thinks I'm nuts at the best of times - if he saw the way I act in Memphis he wouldn't believe his eyes...so I go with like minded friends and have the best time...haha!

Well I guess in reality my husband knows that he will never have to worry about me running away with Elvis or meeting him backstage and having a one night affair! "Darn it":'(:'(

He knew when he married me he would have to share me with Elvis. That came with the territory. Elvis has been with me all my life so just like my family he knew he had to put up with him at times!(y) He is not a big fan but he is fasinated by the grip he still has on people.
He teases me about him and thinks it is funny how I can spend hours looking at him and his concerts. My hubs is the best. In fact most of the things I have of Elvis he bought me. This summer he is taking me and our boys to Memphis.
He aways agrees that Elvis is "the best Looking Guy ever" so I guess he feels that if I think that about Elvis and I picked him for my husband then I must have good taste! So it gives him an ego boast as well!!! :lmfao::lmfao:
