This Image is from Paul's candid Central (http://www.elvis-collectors.com/candid-central/central.html) (Fantastic Site) get yourself over there.

Looking at this Image of Elvis Leaving the Daniel Boone Hotel to perform the afternoon show at the Charleston, WV Civic Centre on July 24, 1976. you have to wonder why the back area looks like a derelict site  Great candid though (y)

It would be the loading dock, for supplies and such. Big transport trucks back in there. Great pic btw!

Some of the places Elvis played were old venues in America-the front of the buildings were usually kept very nice.

They named a hotel after Daniel Boone?

I think the back of most buildings in large cities look rather trashy and those are the exits Elvis had to take after his concerts. I've seen quite a few photos of him leaving buildings where it looked as bad if not worse.

True. The loading and docking side of Memorial Auditorium in Dallas looked absolutely horrible, but I'm pretty sure that's where Elvis entered and left from.

A lot of the old venues in the 70s dated back to the 1920s when vaudeville was in full swing. They had comedians, dancers, singers, magic acts, acrobats etc....this is where Ed Sullivan came up with the format for his show.
