It seems certain individuals like to come to the picture gallery of TCB-World and take pictues of the work I and others put up to sell to unsuspecting Elvis fans on ebay(n). :angry:This is very upsetting since I and fellow artist do these pictures for fellow Elvis fans to enjoy free of charge.

I put hidden watermarks besides my logo on my pictures that only I know where they are and sure enough they are visible on the pictures that were sold on ebay despite the seller claiming it was his work.

Here are a couple of people I wanted to inform you of to avoid buying from on ebay and hopefully the word spreads: The first seller is named chogenki (http://myworld.ebay.com/chogenki/)
and here is a link to my picture that he sold, ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290285947197&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123
note, you can still see a faint image of my logo in the upper right corner.

Tcb-world link to my pic: http://www.tcb-world.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=65097&catid=member&imageuser=550

The other seller is named, http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/ca/s.gifcollectors52 (http://myworld.ebay.ca/collectors52/) and link to item of my picture on ebay http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170289841476&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:CA:1123
and my pic link on tcb-world http://www.tcb-world.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=66605&catid=member&imageuser=550

I have informed ebay and though I know it hard to stop this sort of thing short of just not doing pictures anymore I hope other people are made aware of these practices.

I understand your frustration but people are gonna do whatever they can to make extra cash at others expenses due to the economy problems. But if you feel violated then contact Ebay and report this fale information to them and demand it be removed or file a lawsuit for fraud.

I've found Ebay frustrating when people rip you off.

I ordered this beautiful brand new Christmas Tree, as per the advertised photo, and I received this flimsy plastic stick thing, that was falling apart, no kidding! lol.

Of course I went through all the proper channels. Ebay say they will take action, however .... lol.

When I contacted Ebay, they said what action they took against the seller was confidential, lol, yes, it was top secret, no-one knew about it, including the seller, lol :lmfao:

I think it's great that people are warned.

But is that an excuse, to steal someones work and try to make a quick profit at their expense? Economic problems affect most of us, and most of us do not resort to stealing. It shows lack of upbringing and initiative.

Harry, I totally understand your flustrations, I have always kept a close eye out here in TCB-World to make sure your photos have not be reposted. I have had my wallpapers copied without my permission also, even put on CD covers. They sure do make sure they remove our logo, our name, so they are cutting off part of the photo/wallpaper besides.

It sure is a shame folks don't care and are so disrepectful of others works. I have asked certain individuals on e-bay not to sale others works of art before, some are nice about it and some don't care and go ahead and sell anyway.

I am sorry about this, please don't let this stop you from doing your great artworks, they are excellent and I so appreciate them all and Elvis would be really amazed and grateful.

Did you file the complaint through Paypal? The only time I have ever been ripped off on Ebay I lodged a complaint by using Paypal...I don't know what was done to the seller, I really don't care, but in the end I was refunded the full amount of the item.

In this day and age you are only asking for trouble when shopping online with a credit or debit card. Credit theft is the number one crime in America now. If you're going to shop online your best option would be to use personal check or money order. There are theives even in places you would least expect. For example, this site as is the case here. To be able to get access to the gallery here you must have a registered valid aco**** to view them in full. Otherwise you just get the miniture size on the display page. So whoever did this is a member of this site.

To the poster who asked me if it was an excuse for them to take and claim something as their own. No, I do not think it is an excuse. What I was implying is that it's rough times for certain ones and they will do whatever they can to make extra cash on the side, legal or illegal right or wrong. It has nothing to do with how someone is raised. There are children of ministers who turn out to be porn stars or prostitutes or murders and criminals. And there's also those who grow up in rough neighborhoods who have better upbringing than some who are raised in upper class lifestyles. You can't judge a book by its cover.

That does work fpr some of the Ebay sellers, but it doesn't work at any of the major stores online. Gap.com, JCrew.com, NeimanMarcus.com, etc.......none of those kinds of stores take anything but a debit or CC.

Good point-but everyone knows right from wrong-it is wrong to steal. I do think how one is raised does matter. You are correct many times people who turn out bad are raised by ministers or so called good people. Just because they are raised by a minister-does not translate into raised correctly. Also how someone is raised is not dependent on what economic level they are at or so called station in life. Raised right-means just that, to know that certain things are wrong and no justification makes them right. If someone steals then they are doing wrong-no matter the reason. I did not mean to imply proper raising of kids has anything to do with economic or social standing-it does not-kids are raised right in poor families and rich families. The values instilled are what matters in raising kids.
If the minister did not practice what he preached his actions would speak much louder to his kids than his words. His example would teach way more than his lectures.

Harry I'm truly sorry to see this happen to you my friend.

A similar thing has happened to me before, when some of the cd covers I designed ended up being used on "cd copies" being sold on there.

I've also seen other cd artwork designers and photo collectors having their works & photos being copied and sold on there as "original products."

I've voiced my concern over this to Ebay on a few occasions, yet they still let them get away with it.

Anyhow, try not to let this get you down pal...you have a fine tallent that I (and everyone) enjoy seeing from you.

Go to the stores and shop in person. That way you can write a check and not have to worry about credit theft. Besides the online shopping world is about to change as we know it with the credit problems growing. Circuit City and Goodys both just announced liquidation for their store franchises and are going out of business. Gap is one of the stores recently reported as struggling to stay above water and may file for bankruptcy.

Subject: [ELVIS***********] Fraudulent Elvis Pics on Ebay

Apparently, these sellers on Ebay are stealing work from an Elvis board and selling it on Ebay. I just wanted all of you to be aware that these folks are doing this. The pics have watermarks on them and the watermarks can be seen in the image listed for sale.

These are the 2 sellers who have the watermarked pics. If anyone knows them, they may need to let them know about the watermarks.

Seller 1:

Dear Lainey0428

The images you talk about were given to me in trade by someone in exchange for Elvis transparencies for a Book they were publishing. How dare you make this assumption that I stole them from an Elvis board? I will have my attorney sue you for slander unless you retract this immediately. You don’t know me, I am glad I have friends like Sandi that know of my incredible vast collection of original negatives, transparencies, photographs, films, videos, etc. I don’t have to color my photos, they are originally in color. I will assume this is an honest mistake on your part, and let’s all enjoy Elvis and not get our panties in a knot over someone that colored over a photo. I have had 1000’s of my original photos stolen from my collection, in fact the ones he colored may have been from one of my originals. Let’s all get ready for Tuesday’s inauguration.

Charlaine,

I am 60 yrs old, published several photo books on Elvis, and am known by most of the older fans. I am sorry I jumped on you. Please let me know which photos you are talking about. I have no need to take anyone’s photos. Take a look at my site.

Chogenki.com

I ran Completely Elvis back in the 70’s and got everyone started, was the first to show the 68 outtakes, rehearsal show, Sinatra show, etc. I have been around for a long time.

I have never heard of this TCB-world.com, and do not take part in any Elvis forum except once in a while I will look at the Kings Court. I hope we can talk about nicer things in the future, and I hope you can tell me which photos are in question.

Thanks again,

Thanks for everyone's support I really appreciate it and my only desire is for no one to be taken advantage of and to enjoy Elvis artwork for free. I have no problem with anyone using my work for personal use or creating something of their own with it. My problem is when someone either tries to sell something I want people to enjoy for free or claims my work as something they created...especially since I put allot of effort into each one.

I completely 100% agree that it feels bad when some-one is using the work you have done to profit themselves. I also understand that once an Image is on the Internet that basically you give up any rights to your own work (n)

However the people that count know and respect your work (y)

I do the same for yours as I do for Ewa and Zey's artwork because I think they are wonderful, but I would never disrespect any of you and your works putting them up for sale.

Diane

I know...cause that's down right dirty and disrespectful(n)

This whole thing is bugging me, I must admit. I had to come back and ask a question concerning the Ebay guy.

Doesn't EPE have the final say when money is to be made from Elvis or the likeness of Elvis? So technically, this guy shouldn't be selling these images not only based on stealing them but, according to the law?

I am sorry that this has happened, it is so disrespectful to sell another person's work
or take credit for it and I hope all works out well for you

Thanks for everyone's support I really appreciate it and my only desire is for no one to be taken advantage of and to enjoy Elvis artwork for free. I have no problem with anyone using my work for personal use or creating something of their own with it.

Thank you for letting us know that. Your work is incredible, and I love using some of your pics in my YT videos, but I would never dream of trying to profit from someone else's work. And, as Diane said, I love putting them in a folder so I can drool over them when the need strikes.:notworthy(y)

The same thing happened to me also:cursing: I found one of my modified photos being sold on e-bay by chogenki as being original:angry:
I send a message to e-bay to have the photo removed and they replied that they'll check it out:hmm: Now, i try to put my name on it even though i know it's not going to help:'( they can always remove it:mad:

I bought an 8x10 picture from Chogenki about 18 months ago. He claimed it was an "original"...when the pic arrived there was a big black spot on the end of Elvis' nose. I emailed him about it and he quickly sent out another one. Sounds like this guy is up to no good.:nono: :nono:

hcvegas, I for one love your photos! I also keep many them in my favorites! I feel blessed that you are so willing to share them. I hate it when people take credit for others peoples work. It is so WRONG!
I have heard of this person Chogenki, sounds like he is a real scam artist!(n)

Thanks to Lainey, one of the new members of TCB World who sent out emails to other Elvis groups about the ebay pictures of mine. It resulted in Chogenki emailing me with a nice email offering for me to go through his pictures and to remove any that are mine.

The other seller however, collectors52 sent me a very nasty and threatning email, accusing me with harrasing him simply because I told him he was selling a picture of mine. He said he reported me to ebay. Ironically, the picture of mine that collectors52 is selling on ebay, collectors52 said he bought from Chogenki. Anyway, thanks to everbody that chimed in and I hope you continue to enjoy the Elvis pictures I put up only on this excellent site which is my favorite site.

That's good to hear about Chogenki. I hope ebay will get involved and stops other sellers from selling your work! It's not fair!

Your pictures are amazing!! :notworthy

Thank you for this. I am so glad that this worked out for you. I have since unsubscribed from the email group. I'm glad that there is kindness here in this part of the Elvis world.

I'm very pleased that one of the sellers has offered to remove any of your pics he has up.
