What year/month did elvis decorate the jungle room. And what was it like before it was the jungle room?

And what year did he turn everything red?

As best I can remember I believe that Elvis redecorated the den (which is now the "Jungle Room") in a thirty-minute shopping spree in 1974...he also redecorated Graceland in red in 1974, also.

The Jungle Room as it is known by the world over, but was never called that by EP, was originally an open patio. EP wanted to expand Graceland and in 1969 financed a deal to turn the patio into a den. The furniture was bought in 1970 while Vernon was at a furniture store and told EP that was the tackiest furniture he had ever seen and EP being EP saw it, loved it, and wanted to piss his dad off like a kid, and bought it all and placed it in the den. EP spent quite a bit of time in the den and once had a man made water fall along the rock wall and in front of it he had a big screen television. EPE ought to reinstall the waterfall for future tours to make it as it was when he passed.

As you all know, in 1976 he decided to bring RCA to him for once and turned the den into a recording studio. There was even a engineer booth built in for the time being so that they could have a real studio feel. Lisa Marie was there and she loved to sleep in the big chair in the left corner. A little info-the statue of the monkey in the jungle room was in honor of his pet monkey Scatter that died in 1964. Obviously EP never forgot about Scatter.
