I'm actually looking forward to this release, because it's a change from what they've been releasing up until this point imo.
I mean I love all the FTD material they've given us (and still do), but this is something "different" in a sense that not only will you have Elvis, but the roots of the songs that he recorded in a demo form....

I agree with you.Do the live tracks they are using to showcase Elvis' versions seem odd to you?I look forward to getting them but they dont seem to fit the project.

That's a nice list. You might want to add the new Ed Sullivan dvd's to it.

I don't know much about this at all, but I think I like the idea of it...
I'm a bit addicted to comparing different artists' versions of the same song and seeing how a song evolves over time and takes on a new style and feeling as a different person with different ideas makes their own version of it.
It just really fascinates me ... singers, especially Elvis (one of the things I love most about him), can pour their soul into a song and make it their very own, feeling the words and power of the music right to their bones. And so each time I hear someone else's version of a song it's like hearing the song for the first time as new layers are revealed and it becomes about a different person. Elvis in particular was so good at doing this.
Back to the release itself though..... getting right back to the roots of songs, with interviews with the song-writers and a cd of several original demos, which Elvis chose and interpreted I think would be especially interesting to read about and hear examples of. I think it kinda important to go beyond Elvis' version of a song, even on basic level of merely knowing who the song-writer was or who did it orginally or when, when wanting to understand the song itself and the man behind it.
So.... I think the release would reveal a lot about Elvis and the history of his music and sounds like a pretty good idea to me, if I've understood what the concept of the release correctly that is ;), although I hugely doubt that I personally will be getting it.

I'd buy it if it were the book and 2 cds of demos, but I don't see the point of the "Live" versions. What's the connection? You just wait, those "Live" songs will surface again on other FTD projects.
Honestly, I wish I could just buy the book.
As it stands, I'm not interested.
