There are lots that Elvis made his own, some of my favourites are:
"Mystery Train/Tiget Man" just love when he took and old blues or R&B song and made of it the hottest thing ever."Tomorrow is a Long Time" well, Bob Dylan himself stated this was his favourite version of a song writen by him, didnt he?"Promised Land" The definitive version of this song, period. There are so many songs that Elvis simply had the definitive take on them, this are only the ones that came to my mind, what about "Hound Dog"? for instance or "I Got A Woman", a very underated Elvis cover from Ray CHarles is his 63' single from Viva Las Vegas: "WHat?d I Say" nobody seem to notice this one, but I thing Elvis made a tremendous take out of this arleady classic record when he did it. From the ?69 Memphis Sessions "STranger In My Own Town" and "Only THe Strong Survive" are superb, and from the live shows we got so many great stuff, some of my favourites are: "Polk Salad Annie" and "Proud Mary".
We could keep going and going, I just like to mention "THats All RIght Mama" and "Blue Moon of Kentuky" as probably the most important cover songs on history of rock and roll, you dont even consider them as cover songs, do you?
P.S. I think Elvis version of Lady Madona its so cool! wonder when is gonna be released complete and unedited by the Follow That Dream label, does anybody knows of any bootleg that have it full lenght?
I'll hold you in my heart(y)

That's a hard one because he did a lot of cover songs. But one that I always liked a lot that hardly ever gets mentioned and should have been released as a single back then is "Early Morning Rain".
