View Full Version : Billy Stanley

Billy Stanley I think was the eldest of Elvis' step brothers. He wrote the book entitled Elvis My Brother because he felt that his mother and brothers had been unfair to Elvis in their book Elvis We Love You Tender that he also had contributed to.

He's the only Stanley I have any respect for because of it. I do know that from his book that he had worked for Elvis as bodyguard for a short time and that he wanted out so Elvis paid for his schooling I think to become an auto mechanic. Somehow I think I also read that that didn't work out. I know he was very heavily into drugs and had severe problems with it.

I haven't heard anything about him since Elvis My Brother, can someone tell me what became of him? In spite of his problems he seemed to be the only Stanley that hasn't traded on Elvis all these years.

He was working as a racing car driver, his car was called the Hound Dog. That's the last I heard, except for the odd time he pops up to tell us about Elvis's rampant cocaine use. Such as when he talks about being
with Elvis at his Palm Springs Chino Canyon home once with a huge rock of uncut Peruvian cocaine lying on a table; when Billy wanted to use some
though, Elvis became irritated.

*Yawn*

I don't have respect for any Stanley.

It seems all the Stanley's want to do is portray Elvis as a drug user and nothing more!!

Then they look to make $$$$$ on top of it!
Why would anyone respect them?? (n)

Well this is all so disappointing. I thought I had finally found someone close to Elvis that genuinely cared for him. I based my feelings on Billy's book - another one down the tubes!!!:'( (n)

his cousin Billy Smith cared about Elvis

none of the Stanleys did.

the boys probably blame Elvis for their mother leaving their dad - after all, she did try to score Elvis and got Vernon instead

If they feel that way that's just stupid.

Elvis had nothing to do with that Vernon did

So if they are upset with anyone over their parents breakup they should've been upset with Dee, their father and Vernon.

I agree, Elvis had nothing to do with the breakup of the Stanley brother's parents. Vernon was just stupid to fall for Dee's so-called charms.

I didn't say Elvis broke them up

Dee went for Elvis first, but could only score Vernon

people don't think rationally post divorce - and it's not likely that Dee raised them to think she was to blame for anything.

The only one I've seen that blamed Vernon so much was David. As I told him.
It takes two to make or break a marriage . He was the youngest.
Maybe he had some fantasy of how he thought or wished things had been.
Kids are the ones that suffer in a divorce, but better to tell the truth ,IMO.

I know what you said

I meant Vernon was the one that messed around with Dee not Elvis.
It doesn't matter if Dee went after Elvis first he turned her down.
If Elvis would have messed around with Dee it would've been a different story.

The Stanley brothers are all adults if they think Elvis had anything to do with their parents breakup they are *****s.

I can't figure out the Stanley boys, but one thing I admired about Billy, he freely admitted in
his book that he'd done a lot of drugs due to peer pressure, not Elvis, and his memory is not as it could be.
Besides, like it or not, they were a part of Elvis' life. Oh well. . .

Elvis only allowed them in his life out of respect for Vernon, it's as simple as that......They can't walk down the **** street w/out telling someone that they were "related" to Elvis.....They can't make a living on their own Merritt so they still continue to throw is name around to get what they want...One minute they disrespect Elvis and then all in the same breath claim to have "loved" and "cared" for him

BS man just plain BS is what comes out of their sick twisted mouths and it makes me sick

I have more respect for Billy Stanley than I do either David or Ricky because he, as has been said, has basically stayed out of the Elvis world and hasn't cashed in on his relationship with Elvis.

The Stanley's are just opportunists like their mother was, the apples didn't fall far from the tree.

That said by the time those boys worked for Elvis they didn't get to see the best of Elvis, however they could have stayed loyal and kept Elvis' personal life just that.. personal!

Joe Esposito a good person? I wouldn't consider someone who snitched on their boss to his manager a good person at all. No 'friend'/employee/whatever you wanna call them who snitches on someone behind their back is a good person.

Joe liked being there because of the glamour and glitz - hence, that's probably why they called him, "Diamond Joe".

Billy Stanley went on Malc's show once on My Elvis World. Don't think much of the brothers though. I think they've all cashed in on Elvis.
