It was Priscilla that lost her ring at the Circle G ranch. I feel this selling off of Elvis' wedding ring is the ultimate show of disrespect and cold lack of caring that Priscilla has done to date! (n)

Oh... OK Diane. The thing is I read somewhere he lost it and had it replace it and years later he gave it away but I supose I?m wrong here. The thing is if it?s true he gave it away it should be another person who is selling it.
Have any of you heard this same story too?

All right, I may have jumped the gun on this topic but don't think I'm ashamed of my post. I still feel that Priscilla would be capable of selling off Elvis' wedding ring but would probably do it in secrecy so that she could still pretend she loved him.
I hope we learn whether Elvis did give it away and who exactly is selling it off. It should have gone to Lisa Marie.

I think it should stay in the family for sentimenal reasons. it would be nice for his grandchildren and there children and so on to have it.

I feel exactly the same way Diane...........if I am not mistaken didnt Elvis give his to one of his relatives, I think it was Billy Smith but I can't be certain
I know I should keep my mouth shut but I cant resist. This topic shows how Priscilla is unfairly judged by so many fans. She has nothing to do with this but she automatically gets the blame.Even though she isnt invloved its believed she would do it.How could she ever get a fair shake when this amount of bias exists against her? It's not very fair is it?I know I have opened the door for a good bashing;)

How is it that one of the most significant pieces of jewelery Elvis ever owned isn't on display at Graceland where it should be instead of being auctioned off? It should be preserved, not hawked off like at a yard sale....

They cant display what they dont own.Their only option would be to purchase it.I believe that Soden has stated in the past they dont usually get involved in bidding wars for Elvis items.

Okay Jak, glad you understood it was all in fun.
Another thing I forgot to mention......I really don't see where EPE should be concerned whether or not to purchase Elvis' wedding ring. That should be strictly a personal family situation where Lisa Marie would WANT to get it back. I sure would if it had been my Dad's, wouldn't anyone? I really don't understand sometimes where she and Priscilla's heads are at??????

I dont want to bash anyone ;)
The reason Priscilla always gets the rap from some of the fans is because of her actions. I personally think she should not even be still associated with anything Elvis after all, she is not his widow...........they were divorced. She is Lisa Maries mother end of story, and secondly I think it should be Lisa Marie who is at the helm of things not her mother............leave her to her bedding range......what a joke

Youve got Vernon to blame for bringing her back into the business.Love her or hate her,Priscilla and Elvis are forever inseperable. She's part of the Elvis mythology and she couldnt escape it even if she wanted to.The same goes for Lisa and bascially everyone else who was even remotely close to Elvis. We fans are responsible for making people minor celebrities in the Elvis world that otherwise would have been unknown.

I have one last thing to say on this topic then I'm done. If Priscilla loved Elvis as much as she claims she did that wedding ring is one thing she would have wanted to hold on to come hell or high water and would have bought it back long ago no matter what the cost.
There's just too many things she gone and done, said, didn't do etc. that don't add up to me and I'm sorry I can't think of her in a positive light. I hate feeling that way about someone but it all sets my teeth on edge and brings out the worse in me and I go and behave badly. I really wish in my heart that those who see her as maligned on this site were right. Until someone can convince me differently I stand on my convictions.
I have no doubt that Lisa Marie did care and still does but has absolutely no backbone to stand up for him or to have caven in in selling most of the business rights and not have total control over her father's possessions. Am I wrong in this or does she actually have more control that I'm aware of?

And fans shouldn't forget that none of us would have ever walked at Graceland without Priscilla.
In my opinion Priscilla wanted to preserve Graceland for her daughter and opening it to the public was the only way to do that. Graceland's preservation surely costs a lot of money...
By the way, I thought I heard David Stanley got the ring from Elvis....

They sold the rights to Elvis' likeness and name not Graceland. This was the smartest thing they ever could have done. The money earned by Elvis has been stagnat for years.Graceland just didnt have the ability to expand it would seem.Elvis' name is now controlled by a large multimedia company with hopes of expansion.Dont forget that EPE is a business who's first priority is making dollars.I also think Lisa has the backbone to stand up to anyone. She doesnt seem to lack any confidence. She wasnt forced at all.She made a smart business move.

I don?t know why he didn?t gave it to his daughter, maybe because it didn?t mean anything for him and I think he gave it to his cousin or his cousin?s wife I?m not sure.... besides why would Elvis want to melt it ? we are talking of a rich man here, he could buy as many new rings as he wanted LOL
How many people here would keep their wedding ring after they were invloved with other people? Is it just me or is that slap in the face of your new significant other? As usual common sense attitudes dont apply to Elvis or Priscilla.Dont forget these people were human beings with emotions and feelings just like us.If your husband brought out his wedding ring from his first marriage that he kept would you like it?Of course not.Isnt it just a reminder of a failure if you got divorced. Why should anybody keep it after they move on.C'mon people.

Yeah !!! That?s why he gave it, because he divorced and went on with his life and met and lived with other women. He gave it away because it was part of his past and he had another love interests. His ex-wife wasn?t the center of his life anymore as much as she tried to sell it that way, he had a lot of more things to live for. He met Linda soon after the break up and lived with her for 4 years.

Don't laugh Jak, but my Dad kept his wedding ring that was the match to my mother's when he remarried after she died. In his mind it was a perfectly good ring and he wasn't about to buy another and he wasn't even a "tight" person. He just didn't want to give up the ring as he still loved my mother. He remarried for companionship. Turned out it wasn't such a slap in the face either as my stepmother only married my Dad because she thought he was rich.:D
My point here is that who knows what someone else is thinking and how they rationalize the things they do.

DIAMOND AND PLATINUM WEDDING BAND
Elvis' wedding ring from his marriage to Priscilla at the Aladdin hotel in Las Vegas on Monday May 1, 1967. Elvis gave the ring to his step brother David Stanley and his wife Angie with his wish that it would bring them happiness in their marriage, despite some unfounded claims that the ring had been lost.
Estimated value 80,000$

The story behind Elvis' wedding band coming to auction.
Carol Kotun in Ohio received the following message regarding the upcoming sale of Elvis' wedding band:
The ring has a chain of ownership from Elvis, to his step-brother David Stanley and his wife Angie. Angie Stanley (later Angie Ford) had possession of this ring until the 1980s, when she sold it to Jimmy Velvet, whereupon it was displayed at the Elvis Presley Museum for a number of years. It was then sold at auction (Butterfield and Butterfield) in June, 1994, to a private collector, in whose possession it has remained until consigned with Profiles in History for our upcoming auction.
The full catalog description is here:
Elvis Presley?s diamond and platinum wedding ring from his 1967 marriage to Priscilla at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. From Elvis Presley?s marriage to Priscilla Ann Wagner on May 1, 1967, this platinum wedding band is decorated by eight baguette-cut diamonds set within a border of sixteen full-cut diamonds, for a total weight of approximately 1.65 carats. The ring size is 8 ?. According to those close to Elvis, he wanted the ring made with a row of eight baguettes down the center and two rows of eight round diamonds on each side, as ?8? was his lucky number.
After the dissolution of his marriage to Priscilla, Elvis gave the ring to his step brother David Stanley and his wife Angie on August 6, 1977 ? just ten days before he died ? with his wish that it would bring them happiness in their own marriage. The couple later parted ways.
The ring comes with an exceptional array of provenance from those associated with The King and this beautiful wedding band, including two letters of provenance from Angie Stanley Ford stating the circumstances through which Elvis presented this ring to her and her husband. In addition to Ms. Ford?s testament, the ring also comes with signed letters of authenticity and/or provenance from Richard E. Davis; Joe Esposito (one of Elvis? groomsmen who was present when he ordered the ring from Harry Levitch and to whom Elvis mentioned giving the ring to the Stanleys); two from jeweler Harry Levitch, verifying that this is the ring he made for Elvis; and one from George Klein, a high school friend of Elvis? who was one of Elvis? groomsmen and also a pallbearer at his funeral. Finally, the ring comes with a certificate of authenticity stating that this ring was previously part of the Jimmy Velvet Collection at the Elvis Presley Museum, and was sold at auction in June, 1994 through Butterfield & Butterfield.
Pre-sale estimate: $100,000 - $150,000
Images of the ring will be available in approx. 10 days when the catalog is published. As of right now, the ring is on display at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, part of our pre-auction publicity. If anyone is in Vegas this week, they?re more than welcome to swing by and take a look at it.
Thanks for your interest in this piece. I?ll be happy to answer any further questions you may have.
Kind regards,
Kevin Hasely, Editor, Profiles in History

I have mixed feelings about the wedding ring, it certainly says something that Elvis kept the ring until 1977, perhaps he had reached the point where he thought that he & Priscilla would never get back together?
It does seem odd that LMP is not interested? In saying that there are probably so many things out there that she is not going to get into a bidding war. I suppose there are many things at Graceland that mean so much more to Lisa, I'm sure that there are personal Items given to her from her Daddy which are hers and will never be sold off.
Matt
If Elvis did keep the ring till 1977 that does say something doesnt it.If he hated her so why would he keep it?Like somebodt else here said.If they loved their ex they wouldnt want to get rid of it.Maybe Elvis didnt hate her like some think.

Okay, Priscilla never had the ring, Elvis gave it away, he gave away a lot of things. Things that meant something to him & things that meant nothing to him. Did you all see this statement:
The "Elvis wedding ring"
December 14, 2006
Author: Graceland Communications
The "Elvis wedding ring" that is presently publicized for auction by the Profiles in History auction house is said to have left Elvis's possession when he gave it to an entourage member, David Stanley and his wife – reportedly a sweet gesture of goodwill from Elvis late in his life, wishing the Stanleys the best in their marriage several years after his own marriage had ended. The auction has inspired news coverage and quite a bit of speculation on various Elvis fan sites and message boards.
Priscilla Presley and Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. have no concrete documentation of their own to put them in a position to verify the story of the gift or the authenticity of the ring as having once belonged to Elvis, or to express any doubt about it. However, a couple of points beg clarification.
If the ring being auctioned did indeed belong to Elvis, then it would have to be Elvis's "second" wedding ring - the one Priscilla gave Elvis as a replacement when he lost his original one at their ranch in Mississippi not too long after their wedding. Elvis's original wedding ring had become loose on his finger and he was concerned that it might slip off while he was working on the ranch, so he tied it to a kerchief around his neck. The ring ultimately fell from the kerchief, which Elvis did not notice at the moment it happened. After much searching, the ring was not found. Priscilla soon gave Elvis another ring to replace his original. The second ring was of a completely different design, such as the one presently being auctioned.
Also, in some news stories the ring that is being auctioned has been misidentified as the one Elvis gave to Priscilla on their wedding day. This is not true and the auction company is not the source of that misinformation. Priscilla still has her wedding and engagement rings from Elvis and treasures them.

A size 8?? I had read before that he wore a 9, which is small for a man, but an 8? I know he had those long slim fingers, but lots of women wear an 8. With a band like that it is almost impossible to re-size once it's finished.....mine is similiar in make, and can not be re-sized

Anything I've ever read has said both Elvis and Priscilla lost their rings at the ranch.
When I divorced, I gave everything like that to my kids .
