School friend and Elvis neighbour Becky Martin of Tupelo (RIP) Was vey happy to show us around here Elvis Room. She was delighted to be featured in an Irish newspaper and we exchanged little gifts over the years. We visited her home a few times and Becky insisted on buying us dinner the last time we saw her. Her Elvis link is on the story wall by the birthplace. Becky was well known to Elvis biographers and TV Documentary makers. Her home stands fairly close to Elvis's birthplace.

Many Elvis fans have "Elvis Rooms" Do you?

A TV3 News journalist Erica Rosengrave liked our, "Elvis Shrine", as she put it, even though it was hastily erected in our home for the benifit of the media and just as quickly dismantled. Vinyl LPs large books and magazines along with videos and CDs can make an instant and impressive display. At least for the uninitiated

Many Elvis fans have collections to shame small museums! I have seen photos of some beauties. Has anyone here got an Elvis room?

These are pictures of my bedroom when I lived at my parents back in the 80's, these pictures were taken quite early on in the 80's by 1985/6 I had seperate walls for 50's, 60's & 70's my only regret is that I never took any photo's :'( and so I'm left with these few pictures to remember.

These Elvis rooms are wonderful!:D I envy you all as although my husband does like Elvis he's not the diehard fan that I am and warned me years ago when I started collecting that I was not to have an "Elvis Shrine" anywhere in the house. Everything is still packed now, still awaiting for the move but usually I do have a few things out here and there on walls and shelves and he feels that's okay.:D

Matt, the pictures on your wall when you were a teenager reminds me of mine when I was growing up.:D But, I also had Ricky Nelson, Ed (Kookie) Byrnes, Fabian and Eddie Cochran (Eddie was my next favorite). Elvis covered one wall, the others had to share another one.

I usually have a room or part of a room I like to call my "music" area with an 8 x10 photo of Elvis onstage with Nipper the RCA dog as I have a 7" Nipper statue on the wall on one side and a Nipper 78 record holder with Elvis' Love Me Tender record on the other side of the photo. The rest of the wall I like to cover with my husband's old school trumpet, a guitar and any other old musical instrument I can get a hold of. Even if I had pictures of it I still have no idea on how to scan them over or how to place them in the different sections of this site:'( .

I converted one of the walls into all Elvis, and pictures of Me with Elvis friends and Family from shows and pictures of Elvis fans I've met at the show. Probley see jumpsuits on the side. Changing on the traveling rack hanger....

Well, since members on here are posting the Elvis rooms that they have I guess I need to join in the fun as well.


I really don't have a Elvis Room. My Elvis stuff is in several boxes. I took most of them out and display them on a bed so you can see what I have in some of my itens of Elvis.

(Yes, that is a concert ticket that is in the picture. It is a bit faded but it is from June 4, 1976 when Elvis came to Atlanta. No I didn't go. I wasn't born yet. My friend gave me the ticket that was given by someone he knows. That person gave my friend two tickets and one was to given to me because I made him a cd of the show June 30, 1973 AS. He went to that show as well.)

That collection that is shown in the picture was built up within mostly a year time. A few of those items my brother got from Flordia back in the early 90s. I bought them from him. I been a Elvis fans since the early 90s.

The one of the grave that is hand made by someone so it is a one of a kind. The painting of Elvis that looks like the picture from DVD That The Way It Is original version or the picture from the album Welcome To My World was painted by a fan in south Georgia.

I might bring some more stuff out and show some more.:D

I did show my VHS collection but not my DVD collection. Those will be in the next pictures I take.:king:

We have the "Elvis at 13" statue, and the plate. They were gifts from the sculptor Michiel Van der Sommen.

He was our guest for a week in 2003. He enjoyed all the sculptures in Dublin and gave a lecture on casting bronze at Dublin's Central Library. He also signed Elvis at 13 statue postcards for dozens of Elvis fans at the Elvis Social Club.

A very interesting man indeed we spent many days exchanging stories. His webpage is well worth exploring.

I can't remember where, I'm sure in Memphis at one of the shops in the plaza but I have seen a statue almost exactly the same size as that Beethoven statue, only it was of Elvis in a high necked Jumpsuit bust . At first glance I glossed over the photo you posted and thought that was it.

He replied "How old are you?" I said I'm 61.

He replied with a smile, "That's ok I often speak to children". :blink:

We actually first spoke with Bernard in August 1997. His shop in the Peabody Hotel Arcade in Memphis stocks a lot of Elvis related material.

We have quite a few photos of Bernard and signed brochures which we could display in an Elvis room under the title, Tailor to the King!

The Peabody Hotel where Lansky's shop is situated is across from the Radisson Hotel on Union street where we stayed August 1997.

JDD, that's hard luck. Bernard was always there in his shop when we arrived..usually early in the morning.

Our first meeting was on a Sunday morning in August, the shop was devoid of customers except for Maureen and I. Mr Lansky watched as we broused for 20 minutes or so then he came to us and gave us a signed brochure!

We got into conversation, and he enjoyed telling us about Elvis. We met him again in 1999, 2002 and 2003. Each time he would stop to chat with us, and he introduced us to his son who tried to sell us a ceramic figure of Elvis sat at a grand piano. (I think Eve has one?) Instead Maureen bought an evening bag. :-)

Close to The Peabody Hotel is the Blue Light Studio where Elvis had his first publicity photo take.

While we were buying the photo of Elvis we met Sam the Sham. We had a laugh about some Elvis jokes. Sam was a jolly guy. We did not know who he was!

Most places around here that could do that, like a Kinkos or something, won't. They just say it is or probably is copyrighted material and they won't touch it.

There are a great many images of Elvis used flouting copyright law.

I guess some printers are more intimidated than others. There are a number of unnoficial Elvis Calenders produced every year.

With Elvis it is often open season all year. ;) (y)
