This is Johnny Harra who played the older Elvis in "This Is Elvis". When I first saw I thought it was Elvis

I can see what you mean for a split second it looks like elvis but if you look closer around the mouth it looks nothing like our man elvis. and he has got a receding hairline which you dont see on elvis.

Johnny Harra, was a really great guy. I got to met him back in 2004. One thing I'm not sure anyone knows but all the Elvis Impersonators in the the movie "This is Elvis." Made 0% off sales of the videos. So right now Johnny is in $$$ trouble. But he is the ONLY Elvis Tribute Artist that had Million Dollar Contract with casino out in vegas. He, was also left handed. Kinda erie talking to him, because you kind think your talking to Elvis if he lived...but his face is a lot more square than Elvis.
Love to all,
Tim Dudley

I remember that scene in "This Is Elvis". I always thought it was Elvis for years until I re-watched it about 5 years after I first saw it. It was indeed very spooky.

from a distance it looks quite like Elvis but when you study it you can tell it isn't!

His name is Johnny Harra, he lives in Texas, I forgot what part. He's in his 60s now, and really nice guy talk to. He really and truely loves Elvis. In 1975 when he performed in Vegas he was the guy that mistake for Elvis, and Elvis always wanted to meet him, but never got to met him. He traveled all over US and Canada in 70s and 80s. Doing shows.
In 1980 both Johnny and Jimmy Ellis did tour thoughter paying tribute to Elvis and also doing a non-Elvis show. One thing I found out because back in 80s EPE did not like Impersonators, they told Johnny if he wants be in the movie that he would have take 0% commsion, so basically he did the movie free. So in the late 90s Johnny had money problems I think he's fine now. He's trying loose the weight at one time he gained 250 pounds. But he lost 150 and still losing.

If you look him better he doesn't seem so similar to Elvis....but he's one of the best actor who played him.
Of course no comparison to Elvis in his face, hands and so on :P

This man isn't Elvis. It's indeed Johnny Harra. No one can look 100% Like Elvis.. no one can look like you and me.. But Johnny is a real nice man if I read all the stories about him. And in my eyes, it's the only man who looks very, very similiar to Elvis.. There are many people who have done plastic surgery to look like him, and they don't even come close.. This man is born like this, he didn't asked to look like Elvis, this was just how he looked.. very spooky to see it..
I hope this one is working, so you can see him perform

If you look him in these pictures you can't say he's similar anymore. :lmfao:
Infact, in "This Is Elvis" you can hardly see his face, only his back

Yes, if you look at him closely you can see he's not Elvis, but from a distant shot you can think he was him for a second...
when I first saw This is Elvis I thought he was Elvis in his car..I realized he wasn't when he entered Graceland and went upstairs....I knew a video of that day hasn't been made so I realized he was an actor

There's no telling if any home movies were made of Elvis going upstairs, even though this isn't Elvis.

You're right Vulcandude, we don't know for sure; I meant I never heard or seen a video of that day...maybe there is, but it's never been shown as far as I know

I did not mean there might be home movies of him going upstairs from that day, just whenever.

I found Johnny. My Step-Dad played with him in the early eighties and said his voice was the closest to Elvis. Johnny Harra lives in a very small town in Texas called Wilmer. It is just south of Dallas. My family just opened a restaurant and I have spoken with him almost everyday for the last two weeks. He is a great soul. He is in bad health but still performs in small venues. A little down on his luck. He just recorded a new CD. It is Elvis doing Charlie Rich, Sinatra and other artist, very good! I am going to put it on ebay and if you buy one he will personally autograph a picture to you. All of the money will go directly to him and his family, they are trying to repair their home so that they can take custody of his grandchildren.

He isn't doing very good right now. His health is very bad and his house in Wilmer is in great need of repairs that he can not afford. He is down on his luck. Needs our support if we can give it. I just listed his CD's for sale on Ebay. Go there, buy one, tell and friend that Johnny needs our blessings because the system really didn't do him any justice. His voice in increditable, truely increditable.

Now if I buy it are you 100% sure that he will sign a picture for me.:supriced:
Could their be a way to get two? One for me and one for a friend who is a Elvis impersonator and loves to hear Johnny sing. He has a video of him in concert back in the 80s.

100% sure. I see Johnny almost everyday. My Step-Dad played with Johnny back in the early eighties. It is just a very small world, I meet Johnny about 4 weeks ago. When we found out about what a hard time he is having we have started working on a benefit concert for him. If all things go will he will be having a very nice Christmas with his Grandchildren. I will make sure you get your pics and CD. All of the proceeds from the sales goes directly to Johnny.
Thanks

but he's one of the best actor who played him.
Yeah, but i don't think he had to do alot of acting in this...he only said a couple of words...and just walked through the house and upstairs.
IMO, the guy that best played Elvis in a movie like this was Kurt Russel in his movie from 1979...he did a great job playing Elvis in that one imo!

You are right about Johnny Hara...but at least he was similiar in something.
About Kurt Russell...well I have a different opinion...he's a great actor but I didn't like him as Elvis, sorry...just my personal point of view.
My favourite will be always Michael St. Gerard :P

I listed Johnny's CD on Ebay wrong. Once someone bought one it took the bid off. I just relisted it as an add and I can get as many copies as I can sell. We are also working a benefit concert here in Dallas to help Johnny repair his home, get custody of his grandchildren, and give them some security. We are hoping that with fan support it's going to be a good Christmas for them this year. Details are coming!

Please try ebay again. I listed the item wrong and once I sold one it removed the auction. I now have it as an add. Johnny will pesonally sign his pic. You have my word.
Thanks,
Tonya
