I just heard Be Bop A Lula by Gene Vincent on the '50s satellite radio channel, and it got me thinking. I remember when I first heard that song when I was a kid, and I could've sworn it was Elvis. When my mom told me it wasn't, I didn't believe her. Of course, she had the record to prove it wasn't Elvis.
I can think of 3 songs off the top of my head with artists that sounded like Elvis (not exactly like, but similar to):
Be Bop A Lula by Gene Vincent
Suspicion by Terry Stafford (Elvis actually sung this song, but didn't make it a hit)
I Hear You Knocking by Dave Edmunds (recorded in the '70s, but with a '50s honky-tonk style)
Can you think of any others, and did they at one time fool you into thinking they were Elvis?
