Hi guys
I don't usually post things here because I can talk about Elvis all day & night and I'd probably forget to go to work or eat!!:P
But I need to "vent" a little.
There's been a lot of talk about a new release about to come out taped during the 9/27 College Park show. (The 1st one)
It's been the topic of discussion on numerous sites and it's amazing to read the type of really insulting and ignorant comments people have been writing.

Now the only thing people really have to go by anticipating this release is the recording from the second night, which some have said was better than the night before.

I've heard the entire show from the 28th and parts of the one from the 27th.
To be perfectly honest, this is a very different Elvis than I'm used to hearing, but people are too quick to judge.
Elvis is obviously loaded on something big time...there's no question about that. However, I strongly disagree with the fact that they were "awful" shows.
The show on the 28th is one of my personal favorites. That's right people - FAVORITES!!!! True, he's pretty shaky during the first couple of songs, but he's definately able to shake the cobwebs and I must say the rest of the show runs smoothly. (Both shows)
I will say that you have to listen to it a few times to fully appreciate this one.
This isn't a sick or weak sounding Elvis or an Elvis embarassing himself. (I don't think he ever embarassed himself, but some disagree) It's an over-medicated Elvis that's feeling "pretty good" and performs quite well. He's very entertaining, uses some strong language and is having alot of fun with the crowd. (although he has no patience for Glen Harding!) The crowd reaction is proof that they were enjoying the show.
I think these shows add another dimension to Elvis on stage and give the listener a glimpse of the human side of him.
The same goes for the other shows on this infamous October '74 tour like Detroit and Indianapolis. Not necessarily bad shows, just very unique ones.
I challenge everyone to listen to College Park on the 28th (because it's higher quality) a few times and pretend your in the front row and forget about everything you've heard or read. You'll be amazed at how good and unique the show is and you might even grow to like it!!:D :D
The same goes for others in this category like Omaha '77.
As far as the "haters" are concerned regarding this subject, they need to educate themselves about Elvis the human being and should be thankful that Elvis didn't give "cookie cutter" performances. Each was unique and you never really knew what was going to happen next.

I'm about out of breath!!! That's my opinion and therefore should be treated 100 % as a fact!:P

Take Care Elvis Fans
LONG LIVE THE KING:notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

I agree with you that the College Park shows were aren't like how people have made them out to be. I'm interested in buying this and other shows that you mentioned. On this site they post all these concert cds that are coming out, but not where to get them - Where are they being sold?

What's up EP6873.
Thanks for the reply.
There's alot of people selling recordings like these, but you never know what kind of quality they are. I get all of my cd's/dvd's from a guy named Larry. He's got everything!! Just tell him Mike sent you.
Take it easy
