I thought I'd start what should be a competitive poll:

Out of the two boxed album sets that were released in the '80s, Elvis Aron Presley and A Golden Celebration, which do you think was better? They are now both CD boxed sets, of course. I love both of these sets. I remember in the early '90s, I wanted these sets bad, cuz of all the rare live performances on them, but I could never find them anywhere, cuz they were no longer being made and hadn't yet made the conversion to CD. I could never find them in a used record store. So I ordered both of them from a store that sold rare records advertised in a magazine, (might have been Elvis International Forum, can't remember) and got both sets in the mail. I was thrilled. A few years later, they came out on CD. :cursing: Of course, I bought the CD sets too.

Anyway, which do you like better? I choose A Golden Celebration. Having all of the live '50s shows in their completion on one set, even the Mississippi Alabama State Fair, was an Elvis fan's dream.

I voted for Elvis Aron Presley box set. I bought this box set for £30 which was a lot when this was released. With in 2 or 3 years this set was priced at £60. I liked this because it had rare Elvis recordings like the 1961 Pearl Harbour Concert.(y)

The A Golden Celebration had all the early TV shows and home recordings. The covers were in black and white.

Yeah, that '61 Pearl Harbor concert is a gem.

It's close, but I chose Golden Celebration, maybe cuz I like gold better than silver. :D

I voted for EAP. GC is too much '50s for my personal taste.

I still only have the 33rpm albums of both of those sets. I'd have bought the CD versions already but there is so many Elvis things I don't have any copies of yet that it just hasn't been high priorith yet. I have most of the things on them on other recordings though so no biggie. Of these two I think I prefer the "Elvis Aron Presley" silver set, but I liked'em both

I'm surprised to see EAP winning so easily here. Can't any poll be neck-and-neck? :hmm:

IMO EAP and Platinum stand as the best ever Elvis box sets. By the way, dont let go of that old EAP 8LP set. There is material on there that is different on the 4CD version. "Fool" for instance.

I love both of them.........can't choose one over the other. The Gold has those first tv apperances and the 1956 Tupelo shows. Then The Silver has that great Pearl Harbor Show and some rare movie outtakes. Both sets are top notch.

It`s really difficult to choose... Both are amazing, colectibiles recordings.
I choose "Elvis Aron Presley silver box". One of the reasons I like it so much is the box with the replica of Elvis` signature.
