View Full Version : No Elvis Movies On TV In The USA
U.S. Male
08-15-2006, 02:09 PM
I've scanned the tv listings (USA) for this evening through August 16th, and I see absolutely ZERO (0) Elvis movies being shown.
This really angers me:angry:
Not showing any Elvis movies on August 16th is an insult to his memory imo...I'm writing the movie channels (AMC, TCM) and expressing my anger!

It angers me also. I have been looking forward to Elvis movies. The E channel is offering up (tomorrow afternoon) Last Days of Elvis: THS; Elvis in H'wood - True H'wood Story; Lisa Marie - True H'wood Story. Biography channel tomorrow evening is offering: Elvis N June; Life of Priscilla Presley; Elvis' Entourage; Dead Famous Ghostly Encounters (Elvis Presley's Ghost). So, are you writing a letter to AMC and TCM, or e-mailing?

may I say I'm astonished??? I thought in u.s. you could see something dedicated to Elvis on tv......:'(
I thought it wasn't like here in italy, where no film at all is programmed for tomorrow....it sucks!!!
Here in Holland there's also nothing of Elvis. What on earth is wrong with all the tv-channels? If they show a movie, it's always the same ones: Fun in Acapulco, Blue Hawaii etc. Why not show the others like: Flaming star, Charro, Wild in the country, Change of habit or so. Not only those stupid so called true stories films told by Priscilla and others. I see them as sensation films nothing more.

I'm really disgusted too. Do you all realize there have been no special TV Guides or magazines dedicated to Elvis on his birthday or death the last couple of years? What's going on?

That is very dissapointing. I know last year they had a whole day if I remember correctly of Elvis movies.

SAME HERE. .ONLY RADIO SHOWS REMEMBER HIM..(n)
I think we need to find a way to let those channels know we aren't happy with this. There is a lot of members on this site, they'd notice if enough people spoke up.

Personally, I would rather have TCM or AMC run Elvis movies at various times throughout the year (which they have been) then have them run nothing at all until the anniversaries (death, birthday). Then it's the all day marathon, followed by nothing for a year.

At least in Germany it seems to be something like a wave. A few years ago the TV - stations aired a lot of Elvis movies, especially during the holidays. Now it seems they are showing every film Bud Spencer and Terence Hill did at least twice. Maybe after that they'll return on showing Elvis movies again.

I cant believe theres no elvis specials on at all. 29 years is a long time and they say time heals ,but there should be something on tv to remember Elvis by.
There should be TTWI and On Tour followed by Aloha and then finish the day off with the CBS speacial that would encompass the begining to the end of the concerts and the rise and fall of the king.
Oh I almost forgot the 68 come back too.:D

Let this be a lesson for us!
I think we should start listing websites, adresses and emailadresses of moviechannels throughout the world. This way we can start sending them requests for movies and specials for next year (30th Anniversary!).
We should do this early in the year, so that they can make time for it (so not start with it in June or July).
Whta a bummer

At least I hope they're going to show more Elvisness next year. It will be 30 years after his passing away. Apart from the ever trustworthy TCM, hopefully the others are saving all their Elvis related material for next year..
I do think that JerryNodak is right: a bit of Elvis every now and then instead of all at once would be easier to follow, I'm sure.
I surly will write to all channels here in Holland! I hope all dutch fans do the same. The more the merrier they always say. Maybe we can shake them awake in Hilversum.

I and my friends of the official italian fans club have already written to Italian tv stations but they answered we have to contact productions for ideas about new tv programs ......
