My wife got 5 autographs from him during the 70's.She get to meet him once at Graceland in 1976 along with Linda and Lisa Marie in the back of Graceland.Ive got a good friend here who got to know Elvis in the 70's also.Elvis gave her a TLC necklace in 1977 when he was in Charlotte N.C. to perform a concert. She ran errands for him whenever he came to town. She was employed by stadium security back then. She told me that just being in the same room with him was such an experience. You really could fel the charisma he gave off just like everybody says. You knew he wasnt the guy next door but he was always polite and usually in a joking mood when she was around him.He spoke to her on the phone a couple of months after she got the TLC and then he passed away a short time later. She didnt go to the funeral but she went to Graceland a short time after and Vernon invited her inside Graceland for a visit. She was one of the original people to organize the candlelight vigil. She has told me some unbelievable stories!!

Great story.

My dad got to meet him in 1974. He was part of a police escort at a football game at the Libertybowl Stadium in Memphis. My dad was the only policeman to go into the private press box area to be with him. He and Elvis talked on and off for a few hours while watching the game. Dad said he seemed to be more interested in talking with him than all the big wigs that came in. Some things he remembers:
Elvis had a snub nose .22 cal. revolver up his sleeve that had no trigger guard. I think it's on display at Graceland. Anyway, Elvis told him it was the most accurate gun he owned and practiced with it often in the back yard. He remembers Elvis having a big rip in his jacket under the left arm. Elvis doting on Lisa Marie. He bought everyone up there drinks and hotdogs. He stuck his head out the window a few times and got the fans all stirred up. Dad remembers him constantly tapping his fingers and feet when music was playing. Talking football and policework. Dad said he was very polite and nice and interesting to talk to.

I didn't get to meet him but I do have a story about someone who has. One time I was shopping at Big Lots and was about to check out. I must have had an Elvis shirt on or something because the cashier started talking to me about him and how her husband's grandmother knew Elvis since he was very young. She said that she used to babysit for Gladys and Vernon and she had tons of pictures of Elvis as a child.
