Elvis on TV?

I Remember when on Elvis' birthday and on Aug. 16, VH1 (a music channel in America) would run an all day Elvis marathon of His concerts and movies. For the past 4 or 5 years they haven't. I wonder why? Did they get low ratings or something? CMT doesn't either? The only station I think that still does is TMC. Year after year it seems to be less and less. (n)

Some years in-between any special anniversaries appear to be better than others. Now probably next year August-time we shall see them all pull out the stops with it being the 30th Anniversary of Elvis' death.

We're also hoping that Sony/BMG and the Estate will also get their fingers out concerning CD and DVD releases at that point too!

I notice a similar thing in Canada: some years they'll do an all-day Elvis thing, some years they'll only show one special, some years they won't have anything Elvis-related at all... I don't know exactly why that is; I'd have to know what goes on behind the scenes at the television stations...

Last year on August 16th, they had an all-Elvis day on TCM... with lots of the movies, Elvis On Tour, TTWII and a few interviews. It was from 5am til 5am... I watched it from 5am til midnight and then recorded the last 5 hours :blush: But nothing on his birthday....

They'll probably do less this year so that next year it will be a huge celebration... well let's hope :D

AMC shows movies on both Jan 8 and Aug 16. Or at least they did it last year and this year (last year for both jan 8 and aug 16 and this year for Jan 8). I wonder if they will do it for Aug 16? I would say Yes.

Yes, I notice that as well, Lee...there's some years I don't see anything at all and I'm thinking, why is that?... Lets hope they show something on Elvis this year...keep me posted!

That's true! I have things to watch or read, in case they forget to put anything with Elvis on tv...:)...
