I was searching the internet and saw what appears to be swatches of Elvis' clothing in an envelope that says "RCA something from elvis wardrobe to you." What's the story on this? Was it a promotion or something? Any info would be appreciated
RCA released a box set in 1970 and as a promotion they included an envelope that contained a swatch of cloth from one of Elvis' garments.Elvis sent boxes of clothes to RCA to be cut into pieces. When you bought the boxset you got a nice souvenir.

Here's a photo of the women cutting up Elvis' clothing for inclusion in the album. I don't remember where I found it, or I would give credit.

Please go to www.elvis-collectors.com/ and search for 'Elvis clothing 'patches'. Interesting information there.

Beware.
99% of those are fakes. The envelopes may be real, but the swatches are not.

I collect the swatches :)
I have the envelope with the swatches in them! I had it framed with the two collectors cards that had the pieces on them.
In 1970 I bought the boxset LPs and did get a swatch of cloth with it-a cotton shirt swatch shades of blue color a striped look. You also got a poster of a painting of Elvis in a white jumpsuit with red scarf and red macrame belt.

I think that was one of the few well promoted items from RCA :)

wow, how'd you get so many?
I have one, it's a dark black sort of faint tweed, thin pants kinda fabric.
it's like the one on the right hand edge, front row in your picture

I can't imagine being one of those gals and not trying to take a whole item.
man, I am swooning just thinking about it.
I read that Elvis had put the 68 special outfits in - and someone, I don't remember who told the story, had fished out the black leather, the red gospel outfit and the white If I can Dream suit.
Imagine if those had been destroyed! imagine getting a bit of the leather suit in your records!
