I was ten as well but I was a fan before that because though my folks weren't huge Elvis fanatics like I'd become, they had a couple of records of his in their albums and I spent a lot of my time as a kid listening to their records. When Elvis died WGN and other channels would have Elvis Marathons twice a year for years so it just grew from there.

I wasn't even thought of when Elvis passed. He passed four years before I was born. I don't know how I became an Elvis fan either. I guess it was because of my mom. She loves watching those old movies stations like AMC and TCM and I used to watch them with her. I guess I caught an Elvis movie and fell in love.

I was 11 years old and I remember it like it was yesterday. I had just got home from school when my dad called and told me the news and to turn on the tv. I was glued to it and crying when my mom got home. Very sad day. We had just got tickets to see him at the end of the month, and had just seen him the previous year. It was quite a shock.

I was about 12...

But I liked his music earlier, knowing nothing about the man at the time....

In 1977 things changed.

I really got into Elvis and his music, young as I was.
That's something that will never change.

Elvis' been here, all of my life. A part of my life, really.

I was 6 years old
I remember walking back home with my brothers and some teenage girls came running out of their house crying and told us Elvis died! When we got home our mother had also just heard the news on the radio and was crying too.
I will never forget that day.

I do though wish I was alive back when Elvis was, that would be amazing to have gotten to see him live in concert, etc.

I wasn't born yet when he died. I was born in January 6, 1982 just two days before his birthday.

I was 9. My dad was an Elvis fan but I wasn't until several years later. I remember how hot and humid it was that day and my friend and I were riding our bikes around the block. We stopped by my house to get a drink and my mother told us that he had died. That's all I remember. I don't recall any newspaper stories or anything on tv about his death:'(

I was -6 years old, LoL. I became a fan in 1997, after seein him on the news when the 20th death anniversary was announced. I first mixed him with LaBamba, another singer..I had not long before seen a movie about the latter one and liked his songs and Elvis looked somehow similar, so...I started buying Elvis' records, hopin to find the LaBamba's song I loved so much. Of course, I didn't succeed, lol. BUTTTTTTTT I got to like Elvis very much :D Well, you can imagine the rest of the story :D

I was 14 and saw the news. I told my Dad and asked who Elvis was. I wasn't into music back then, but with the onslaught of shows and tributes, I soon realized a song that I heard on the radio, Burning Love, was by this Elvis guy. Since I liked this song, I quickly became a fan.

I was 35 years old when Elvis died. I remember buying all the newspapers the following day. Most newspapers ran the story all that sad week in August 1977!

By 1977 I knew a little about Elvis's music having collected his records since 1957.

During the decades I had sold my Elvis collections, bought them again, sold them, and bought them again!

Now in 2006 I'm still Buying Elvis Presley recordings:clap:

I was 5 the year he died. I remember more that my grand father died that year...just 2 months after Elvis. It was actually around 78-79 I got really into Elvis. I remember they showed the 77 CBS Special on norwegian tv and my mother wouldnt let me see it cuz it was so late. But I was spoiled and after a few tears she let me see it afterall....I was hooked, and have been ever since. I listen to him every day, and he just make me feel good. What more is it to say??

I was only a year old back then, so I think I didn't care that much. I became a fan when I listened to him on the radio when I was seven years old (my grandmother used to hear a radio station that played oldies all the time). I wanted to know who that guy was (my granny wasn't really a music expert, but she knew Elvis and told me that he was already dead) and fortunately there was an Elvis movie on tv that day. I liked that movie and I got a three LP-set (The Best Of Elvis from a label called World Trade) for my 8th birthday. Since than I am an Elvis fan. But as it was said before, I have no idea what it was like when he died.

It is totally cool! One thing that got me back into Elvis big was doing some research on the concert my mom went to and finding the cd "Let Me take You Home" for her. Doing more research, I found a cd for the one my brother and I went to " Goodbye Memphis" and then I found pictures of both concerts,( which was good, because my little 110 camera took aweful pictures!) and then, later, even found some video. Add that to the ticket stubs and newspaper articles, and then the book ( Highway 51, Memphis Tn) by Joe Tunzi. And voila! We all have a cool collection. I couldn't believe I could find all this stuff!
