which FTD (follow that dream) do you think have the worst and the best sound of the concerts.

The best sound have to be Elvis Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis and the 1969 concerts. But which one have the worst sound? I hate the sound on Closing Night. to bad sound for a so well performed show. Summer Festival from Las Vegas 1972 isn't very good neither.

Summer Festival has great sound. The worst I would say is DragonHeart, but "In A Private Moment" it don't have great sound either. One of the best would be Elvis At The International, Spring Tours '77. There are alot these are just a few.

Another FTD cd that has really good sound is "One Night In Vegas". I just got through listening to it, really good.

In A Private Moment has the worst sound I guess, but considering the sourse that's acceptable.

The Burbank 68 CD isn't that great sound wise either, but hey, the material makes up plenty.

And The Impossible Dream has poor sound quality as well.

The 69 live cd's (All Shook Up f.i.) have great sound quality. And Spring Tours and Jungle Room Sessions as well.

So do the sixties cd's in the FTD series.

you don't get that concert feeling on bad sounding recordings. Thats maybe the most important thing on a concert CD. New Years Eve 1976 and Imossible Dream from 1971 has terrible sound aswell too. and Summer Festival have a bit weak sound.

but we are lucky to have soundboard recordings anyway.

New Years Eve FTD has worst sound than the bootleg. And the best is Memphis 74. Imo

Totally agree...that live sounds amazing...others FTD don't have a good sound, unfortunately, but some of them are interesting all the same....for example "In A Private Moment"...(y)

I would have to say that IN A PRIVATE MOMENT is probably the worst sounding of the FTD CD's thus far...

But of course, whenever I am listening to the FTD CD's, I always try and keep in mind the original source of the material (audience recording like on NEW YEAR'S EVE, or home recordings on a late 1950's tape recorder like on IN A PRIVATE MOMENT) and remember that a lot of the material that FTD is releasing to us fans probably wasn't recorded with potential future release in mind!! ;)

I agree Mike. I think the material on the cd "In A Private Moment" definitley makes up for the sound of it thats for sure.

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT BRAD!!! (y)

Plus....considering all of the years that us fans had to suffer through those horrible audience recorded concerts before soundboard recordings started making the rounds (and of course, before the FTD label), I certainly can't complain about sub-standard sound on FTD CD's like IN A PRIVATE MOMENT!! ;)

ALL the FTD cd's that are available to us are Essential purchases, but one of the main reasons, other than limited funds, as to why some of the cd's do not sonically sound consistant as others has to do with the (poor) Mastering of the tapes.

For example, If anyone would love to have some fun and do an A/B comparison, check out Vic Anesini's Mastering job on the recent 1972 Vegas Masters on last years, Viva Las Vegas disc and then compare them to Lene Reidel's Mastering of the same season Masters on the 2007 FTD, An American Trilogy.

You will be amazed at the sonic difference !!!

I'm totally satisfied with the FTD releases obviously there not going to be up to the standard of the official SONY/BMG releases but what we do get is perfectly acceptable – FTD RAISED ON ROCK was close to stunning in fact all the FTD releases have the best sound they possible can.

However, the LIVE IN L.A. BOOK & CD could have been better but the most disappointing fact was the tape speed seemed to be running slow on the soundboard concert.

Finally, don't forget these are official bootlegs so we have to be satisfied with the sound we get.Keep up the good work FTD!
