Wonderful news to all us fans, Heartbreak Hotel reissue has hit #1 in the US 'Hot Singles Sales' chart,
there is a slight negative side to this,
unfortunatley this new number one will not add on to the total of 18 Elvis has already achieved,
to achieve 19 number ones, Elvis' singles must hit #1 on the main 'Hot 100' chart, and reading the terms and conditions of the hot 100 chart, the singles is partly air-play and sales of the singles themselves and I doubt very much if radio stations in the states will play these records...

It's a shame, but I can understand the dj's not playing it. Playing it once or twice because of the 50th anniversary is a must.

For us, the fans, it's a great song. But for the youth, it sounds way too old fashioned. That's also the reason why Elvis' most popular songs among the non-Elvisfans are those recorded after 1968 because of the more contempory, modern sound.

This is one reason I believe it would be good to remix some of the songs. To introduce them to a new audience in a way that would be more 'cool' or contemparary to them.

Believe it only achieved 4000+ in sales, yet still hit #1 on sales chart. Good indication of where the single stands today as a format for music. Need to have a top song on the air play chart to even have a chance of a #1 on Hot 100.

yeh I agree with rocknroll

but Im thinking more 'suspicious minds' or burning love' for airplay

but I hope I get surprised

I know Im dreaming here but I would love to see Elvis get another 2 or 3 to equal or beat the Beatles

I agree, I think BMG has squandered all the attention given to Elvis during 2001 and the ALLC worldwide hit. He could sell 50 thousand singles and if it does not get requested and played it will not go #1 on the top Hot 100. They went with Rubberneckin and it did not get airplay(partly because MTV and VHI would not play the video where most young people keep up with new music)
If the ALLC video had used the scene of Elvis from Live A Little Love A Little where he sings ALLC at the party-isolated him only- and melded it into a casino Vegas scene with George Clooney and Brad Pitt from Oceans 11 which featured the song I think it could have got a lot more MTV, VHI video play which would have led to more requests on radio and sales. But it would have been more expensive than the cheap video they used. Money
