I'm not sure about the facelifts and all but he did have some eyework done. I think it had something to do with his eyelids drooping. You can tell the difference it some photos from 76/77 versus earlier photos. It removed, for me, Elvis' signature "hooded eyes or "bedroom eyes" as some like to refer to them, look that was part of his style.

I agree with menwithbrokenhearts. He definitely had eyework done, but i've never seen any proof of facelifts, nor can I ever remember mention of them. Anyone have any proof out there? Interesting post by the way.

From what I have heard Elvis was one of the most vain people around! But I guess he had the right to be, because I must admit, that he is simply the best looking man I have ever seen. Although I'm male and not gay I think that Elvis was just handsome as hell. He had his teeth done in 1956 or 1957 and he had a face lift around the eyes in 1975. During his july - tour he went back to wearing mascara around the eyes like he had done in the 1950's and early 1960's.
:king:
In the 50s he is suppose to have had a rhinoplasty to help breathing and thin the bridge of his nose-but no one has proof. He had his teeth capped in the 50s, and his eyes lifted in 75 supposedly. (most who saw the eyelift say it changed his look or others that they could see no change)The eye makeup goes back to the 55 screen test where a makeup artist did them and he liked the liner around the eyes.

I've never been convinced of the nose job either. If he did have one, it was so minor, he barely had one at all... Where did the rhinoplasty story come from, anyway? I've read it in a few books, but they don't exactly say where they got the information from...

He had no nose job, but had a slight facelift in the 70's. he stayed at Baptist Memorial.

I read this story in Joe Espositos book Good rockin Tonight and also
George Klein had the same procedure done in the 50s(* paid for by Elvis) he supposedly told everyone Elvis was going to have it done also. Whether its true I do not know-its as true as anything else written by insiders- so its in doubt. I agree if he had one it sure did little to change his looks. As for the facelift all I've ever heard about is the 75 eyelift for puffiness under his eyes.

What screentest are you talking about? The only screentests I know about is for the 1.Rainmaker and 2.Blue Suede Shoes. Can you show me a pic with the eyeliner?
No I can't, I heard he just liked the way they made him look when the test was done. Even for tests makeup artists are used. The Rainmaker test very few pictures are available, the BSS song they taped if you look close at the video you can see his eyes are highlighted to stand out. It is not unusual they do it for anyone who is on film, just some more that others. In Lovin You you can see it more. No big deal.
Does anyone has pictures of the before and after surgery?I don't think he did his nose.I look at the 50's,60's,70's pictures and I don't see anything diferent.Maybe his eyes. They did look diferent at the very end,but he had eye problems. So,any pictures out there?:king: :!:

The reason I ask is because I cant tell.. even the eye thing.. as he got older and heavier he was obviously bloated from all the shit he was sticking into himself.. but I dont think he'd go so far as to have a face lift... well ok.. Maybe I just dont wanna admit it.. I just say that if he did I cant tell.. so maybe he didnt.. who knows

Elvis never had a nose job, not even a facelift. The only thing that he had was a eye correction. The skin that was hanging under his eyes and above was streched to the sideways. You can see it in Elvis in concert 1977. But he never had any other plastic surgery.

Elvis had a chemical skin peel in the 50's to get rid of acne scars. He also had a nose job and its noticeable in pictures after 1957.He did get work done around his eyes in the mid to late 70's.And i know this for a fact because i found out from a very reliable source in the Elvis world.
did he not get the skin under his chin/neck area tightened up too?

I don't think that Elvis had a nose job from looking at Pictures of him from his teens!

You can tell his nose looks just like his fathers :-

As for the makeup I agree he did use it and when he didn't in concert he looked kind of washed out.... Makeup is nothing new all actors and pop stars use it to highlight their eyes.

Yes, makeup is standard for pop-artists (and everybody else who's on stage like opera stars) to use on stage.
About the facelifts: Elvis did many shows and tours in 1975 and even more in 1976. With a man photographed this much, pictures with Elvis after surgery (scarses, bandaids, etc) should be available (even made by the trash journalists). And yet, there is no real proof.
The only time when surgery could have been done is in the army, when he was 'out of the picture' for almost 2 years. Stories are that Elvis had made his nose less wide during that period and had some sort of treatment for the scarves from the acne that he suffered as a teenager.

seems to me we have quite a deverse group of theories.. Id have to agree with whomever said that since elvis did so many shows 75-76 and therefore so many pix taken we wouldnt have been able to miss the scars/healing process.. PLUS wouldnt the press have noticed?
apart from IMDB where I originally read the plastic surgery thing Id never heard form anyone about it..
anyway who knows.. I just wanted to see what others thought..
glad to get so many responses.. thanks

Linda told the story repeatedly. She had a bed in his room for the duration of his stay. Joe's been known to tell the story every now and then as well.
As for the nose slimming down as he aged> I've had the same thing happen to me, my nose looked significantly bigger and broader when I was a pre-teen. When I aged and lost the babyfat, my face including my nose slimmed down, my cheekbones came out more and my nose got its final shape.
Elvis had a wide nose throughout his entire life. See this pic at 18 in 1953 and one from Aloha 20 years later in 1973.

Just look at that previous Aloha pic! His eyelids then and in July 1975. I upload this pic also before the plastic surgery and look at his eyelids in '75. It IS reported that he had it made in July '75. Also in David Stanley's The Elvis Encyclopedia.

He just wanted to look like he looked in the 50's. Here's a pic. And also one from July '75.
I never heard or read of a facelift only tightning the skin around his eyes in 75. He supposedly asked on of them "hows it look?" and I think it was Shilling( I heard this on some talkshow, Geraldo maybe in the early 80s)Shilling asked "What Elvis" he said "my eyes I had them done you know" Shilling said he really could not see much difference. The nose job comes from Espositos Book Good Rockin Tonight. SInce it supposedly happened in the 50s he would have no knowledge other than heresay since he was not even around Elvis till 1960. I also looking at pics of Elvis over his life can see no real change in his nose, other than when his weight went up and his whole face then looked swollen. The pictures Mozzarella posted the one is from a press conference in 1970 for the Houston Astrodome shows, not Aloha and there is a huge weight difference so its hard to judge what may or may not have been done.

I know that my first pic is from the Astrodome press conf. '70, but I referred to the previous post's aloha pic. But I think he had his eyes done in '75. It's a proof. But nothing more.

There are pictures - if you go for the right ones (they haven't appeared in this thread) - that elucidate the difference in Elvis' eyes between one month and the next in mid '75.
I've not seen confirmation - visually or otherwise - of any other surgeries that Elvis supposedly had. His acne defiinitely cleared itself up, but whether or not he had a skin peel to remove potential scarring is unclear. People state things as fact too quickly in the Elvis world.

Having seen what Priscilla's done to herself, I have no doubt in my mind, sorry to say this because I love him so much, that Elvis' chin would probably be on his forehead by now if he were still alive... Image is important to people who make part of their living based on it.
I had no idea he had the chemical peel--I read he was seeing some creepy doctor that he wound up firing after he made passes at him while in the Army...and I also read too about the nose thing and about how GK had it done too. The only difference I can notice with his nose is that in some early photos in '56, it looks flat--and then 57'-58' it's like a roman god's  But I don't mind--he looked fine...
The eye lift though did ruin his face in my opinion...he didn't need an eye lift, he needed a lifestyle change and some TLC...

Heres something I came across it comes from a book "Schmelvis the Jewish Roots of Elvis Presley"Mrs. Fruchter tells us we should interview the Presleys' old landlady, Fagie Shaffer, who lives in a suburb of Memphis. We call her up and arrange a visit.
MRS. SHAFFER: Elvis used to come by once a month to deliver their rent check. I think they paid $50. He was a very nice boy. My mother used to call him Elvis'l, which is a Yiddish term of endearment.
SCHMELVIS: What do you remember about him?
Mrs. SHAFFER (leafing through her old scrapbook of photos and articles about Elvis): When I first knew him, he had a big nose and not such a beautiful skin. But after his surgery, he turned into a very fine looking young man.
SCHMELVIS: What kind of surgery?
MRS. SHAFFER: Nose surgery.
(Pause)
MAX: Are you saying that Elvis had a nose job?
MRS. SHAFFER: Yes I am. You don't believe me. (FINDS A PHOTO OF YOUNG ELVIS FROM THE SCRAPBOOK). Look, here's his original nose...

Other than that, all other stuff he had done was never mentioned.

That's funny. I think he just had it done to look more like a classic nose. More narrow. I really notice it when I'm watching Love Me Tender. His nose, to me, looks more defined and perfect, like a Greek God statue.

There's different stories all over the Net and in books.
This first link says he had both.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000062/bio
He had two full face-lifts and rhinoplasty during the mid-1970s. On one of these visits to hospital he was accompanied by Linda Thompson.
This is from his cousin, Billy Smith's interview. Of course, he was only asked about the eye-lift. I don't care either way. Like everything else about Elvis .It depends on who's talking and what day it is. ;)
http://www.elvisinfonet.com/interview_billysmith_part2.html
EIN: In 1975 Elvis had the eye-lift in Hospital. Do you think it changed his looks and is it true that you tried to talk him out if it?
Billy: Yes, Elvis had the eye lift, and Linda, Jo, and I stayed with him at the hospital. Yes, I did try and talk him out of it. He didn't need it, he looked great. How do you improve perfection? The doctor even told him that. But, he wanted it, so he got it! I don't think it changed his looks that much.

Weight is a big factor in how your whole face looks. Also my nose looks larger and thicker when my allergies act up or I have a bad cold. I really see little difference in the nose over the years in pictures-but when he was a little heavier that would make a difference in your facial appearance including the nose. This is a very old thread to pop back up.

:lmfao::lmfao: Sorry, but I feel the same. Even the MM don't agree on anything. I read R of MM and I was very disappointed .Not only with them but Alanna Nash for not pinning them down.
Esposito was quoted as saying he did have a face lift--until he changed his story--again.
So, excuse me, but I don't believe anything any of them say.
I found Marty Lacker and Billy Smith consistent in their stories. Now, Lamar I think is a story teller type of person. You have to read between the lines with him. He tends to put sarcasm in to bring out a point at times.
People like, David Stanley in fact all the Stanley's and Joe go from one extreme to another.
I know one thing, Elvis sure went into the Hospital a lot during the mid 70's.
It would interesting to research before photos of reported dates he was admitted and photos from after the Hospital visits.
Here's another thing, the way he look in 1977 was noticeably different from even the New Years Eve show did, 76 entering 77.

Yes, he did. In my scrapbooks from the 70's there are several articles about it. It was usually categorised as exhaustion. Sadly...it was a drying out visit.

What do you see as such a big difference?

Billy just comes across in a more caring way, sad with his .
Marty is just a belligerent A ** that thinks he knows all .
Yet, he never bothered to go to the funeral.
Elvis was in the hospital a lot in the '70's . He was not only ill but was under a lot of pressure money-wise, IMO.You can find most of that on the Net.
His looks did change quite drastically. He should have been in the hospital, not trying to tour.

I have heard Lamar in print and on tv tell how he leveled with Elvis and told Elvis the truth on weight, medications, etc...I do not think it was exactly as Lamar wants us to believe- IMO. as far as what he would say to Elvis and how he said it. So I do read between the lines with him-and get a different idea of his interaction with Elvis.

Good point about Elvis needing some rest. Billy comes off to me like someone who sincerely cares.
I don't agree about Marty Lacker. I know that he does come off like he knows it all, that is true. He does that so much that, when I used to talk to him in the late 90s, I had an argument with him about, Scotty Moore and DJ Fontana being on almost all the movie soundtracks in the 60s. When I showed him proof he said," guess I never paid attention to musicians in the studio", I'm thinking maybe he was really stoned.
Other than that, I think the core of Marty and if he was standing firm on thinking Scotty and DJ wasn't in the sessions, maybe on information he states that are correct may be true. .. did that make sense?..lol
It's true what Paul McCartney said in his Autobiography, "the fans tend to know about me than I do. They remember every detail about what I the Beatles did".

This I agree with completely. The fans know when and what was going on because all they saw was Elvis. No one and nothing else.

Has anyone heard of this woman and this book?
 maybe he had visited her after a game of football where being the quarterback and refusing to get sacked got whacked in the face by someone's elbow - yeah, that's it. i looked through all my pictures and sometimes the nose looks different, but not LARGE! and it doesn't look by any means big in this photo - so not knowing a whole lot - i'll buy the eye story, and i liked the blondish hair - so eye and dyejob - that's all!
Like I've said I just do not see that much difference in his nose at all.
When your younger your nose does not look the same as it does in your teen, and after that young adulthood. Weight plays a factor- the heavier you are the thicker your nose will normally look. The thinner you are the thinner your nose looks. Same way with cheek bones when Elvis was heavier they just blended into his face, but the thinner he was the more they stuck out and were obvious.

Good points KPM. Also....the nose and the ears are 2 things that never stop growing. The saddest part about the weight gain IMO was the loss of those gorgeous cheekbones.:blink:
