Actually, bad title.. Because it never did. I was wondering if anyone remember the day Elvis died like I do. Every detail, where you were, what you were doing.

I was eleven years old. I had just got home from school and my dad called and told me the news. I tried not to cry on the phone, ( in front of my Dad and all..) and after hanging up, immediately turned on the television. I was glued to it when my Mom got home. She hugged and grieved with me. I was very depressed for a long time and spent alot of time in my room listening to records and looking at an Elvis photo album I had.

I was at work , I was the manager of a bakery store and was ringing out a customer when I thought I heard over the store radio, "ing of Rock in Roll dead at 42"... I hoped I had heard wrong, or maybe it was anyother rock pioneer(as many claim to be the King) I finished with the customer and told my clerk I was going to the desk, the phone was ringing before I entered the office. It was a former employee asking if I had heard. I said Yes and knew then he was gone. I got a total of 4 calls in an hour all asking if I knew. I went home and watched all the news you could back then. (No CNN nor cable all news networks) It was a horrible time.

Hello

A very sad day that would go down in history and will be remembered like the day Kennedy was shot and Martin Luther King.I sure do remember when I first heard the news. We're three sister(all three love Elvis)We had gotten home from school and were doing our home work. Our walls were covered with Elvis'posters and Mom walked in.She had a sad look in her eyes. She just did'nt know how to tell us.She finally said"You better take those pictures down"(Pointing at EP's photos and posters.I asked.....Why?She said"Im sorry, but Elvis is dead"We three looked at each other in disbelief. It was not possible. It had to be a mistake. We ran to the living room and there it was.He was gone!:(We cried like we had lost a family member. His picture was framed and placed on top of the piano like one more member of the family. The news on Tv,the radio, the people talking about it was too much for us girls.I remember that my dad took us to the park and it did'nt help. That night we watch TTWlS and God he was beautiful. To think he was gone forever! We were not allowed to watch the funeral.Im was glad. Two months after we got to see the especial in NBC.Vernon was hurting so bad that we cried again.
Seing Elvis on the NBC especial did not help at all.He did'nt look like the Elvis we had in our posters. He looked tired and so much over weight.Months went by for us girls to realized that dying was a part of living. All the sudden when Elvis died death seem so real.We still love him.We still play his music. He is very much alive in our hearts. The picture framed still in top of the piano. He never left.He never will

We love you Elvis!
