The Lisa Marie was sold and was later found abandoned in a swamp and was redone and put back at Graceland.

Here is what I know Ricky

I do know that It was flown back to Memphis before taking off the wings so it could be brought down EP Blvd. So yes it still can fly :)
I also believe it is not owned by EPE but rather on loan from a private individual.

I am sure others here will know more ;)

The plane's engines have been taken out. Also, it had been used for parts for a while, so some of the instruments had to be replaced before it came back to Memphis. They also had to get special permission to fly it back as it pollution levels when it returned were higher than those previously tolerated.

Tommy Thanks 4 The Replies From what i understand EP bought this plane in the mid seventies named it after his daughter Lisa Marie and had it custumized TCB etc.Seems like Elvis loved this plane and had alot put of money in it.Does anyone know why it was sold and who bought it?Its sad that it was found abandoned in a swamp, sounds like it was trashed. What year was this plane brought back to Graceland??

The plane came back to E.P boulevard September 23 1983 and the little jet called Hound dog II came back sometime in `85. I don`t know who bought the plane but i guess it was`nt a very wise or smart man :). I hope that helped you a little bit, i know it was`nt all you wanted to hear.

Ricky,
This picture seems to be taken on the Lisa Marie? its ceiling inculding the wood strip matches that of the LM. I also added some pics I found of Lisa Marie herself posing with the plane when Elvis was still alive.

As far as the jet in "Elvis on Tour" it wasnt the Houng Dog plane but rather a Gulfstream Jet one of many planes he rented before he bought his own planes.

BTW......I have visited Graceland and have been aboard the Lisa Maire and I think its pretty cool

That picture of Elvis with the badge was not taken inside the Lisa Marie. It's a picture from June 1975, the Lisa Marie was still away to be customized. It was first used somewhere at the end of that year. The last time Elvis used it was for his final tour in June 1977. I also know that the rockband Queen used the Lisa Marie during their USA tour in November 1977.

They rented it for that tour. I think it was one of the last times it was flown. I seen pictures of Freddy Mercury in the plane. During this tour he wore the TCB logo around his neck. This was his tribute to the King. One of the dates he wore a redone of one of Elvis' jumpsuits. I think the redone jumpsuit he wore was the Cisco Kid black suit.(y)

The Lisa Marie is definitely awesome. It seems ahead of its time and very futurisic to me considering it was customized in the 1970s.

Didnt Vernon sell it after Elvis died because he needed money and had no use for the plane and its huge yearly upkeep cost?

Unchained Melody

Yeah that and he really had no use for it. He and the family really needed the money.
