Happy New Year one & all!

Lets kick-off 2006 by commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the song that made Elvis Presley a global institution - "Heartbreak Hotel".

Guys, which is your favourite version of the song?

Could it be a particular rendition Elvis gave on the Dorsey Brother's Stage Show?

The New Frontier Hotel version when Elvis played Vegas for the very first time?

Or maybe u prefer Elvis' performance of the song from his Pearl Harbor Benefit Show in Hawaii, 1961?

How about his performances from the taping of his '68 Comeback Special?

Possibly the versions from on stage in "That's The Way It Is"?

Or do you prefer a performance of the song from his Spring Tours in 1977?

Well guys, the choice is yours - any versions that come to mind from any era that you like then please tell us about it.

Nice 1,

NEA.

I liked the 68 special version, to see his hand tremble as he reaches for the mike shows how much energy and emotion he was feeling.

There is only 1!! version! that's the original record release. The record that shaked the world and the song that kicked sinatra's *** , and started the scene what we now call: rock and roll!

I couldn't pick just one, as versions from '68 onward all have appeal to me.

I suppose I'll go with one of the fast-paced MSG '72 versions.

The original just isn't something I choose to listen to very often, though I certainly appreciate the historical significance. While the vocal does have that great 'haunting' quality to it, it doesn't do as much for my ears as performances from later years when his voice had matured.

SURE! That was a very sexy perfomance... Though I personally like that version of the Milton Berle Show (on board of an aircraft carrier), where Elvis is all dressed in black.

The Madison Square Garden version, what a solo James made of the original Scotty Moore classic riff.
TTWIS, its cool isnt it?
Heartbreak Hotel: Live 56, the version on TOday Tommorrow and Forever.
The Master: the One that made of Dylan and McCartney, Dylan and McCartney.

Although there are quite a few very good live performances of that song, Elvis never reached the original version again. It's just to **** cool!

My fave verson of Heartbreak Hotel is the Spring tours 77 his voice is a little deeper than the master witch he recorded 21 years before.
