Hi all. I saw this thread over on the official Johnny Cash site forum and loved it. (it's going on over a year and still getting posts) I stayed up all night reading all the funny stories and sayings, especially by his daughter Cathy, and was wondering if we could do it here.
Does anyone have any funny stories to share about Elvis or funny things he said or did? His wonderful sense of humor is sometimes ignored I think. I can't wait to see what stories you guys come up with!

I like all the inside jokes that Elvis would do onstage. If you know what he means they are very funny. He was just a hell of an entertainer, that's for sure!

as i awoke this morning, when all sweet things are born
a robin perched on my window sill, to greet the coming dawn
he sang his song so sweetly, and paused for a moment to lull
i gently lifted the window...and crushed his f#####g skull!
oh boy that is a funny poem, Elvis is a genius, i wonder why he did'nt write his own songs
everybody needs to get the 'Its Midnight' FTD, it has the stay free pads dialogue. the whole audience is splitting themselves with laughter

one time a journalist showed him a picture taken in the shower from GI blues and asked him how he felt a bout the prominence ad display given to his undraped torso.Elvis replied:well, if it helps to sell improved plumbing to underdeveloped areas, I,m all for it!
dear elvis once crackedup a group of his fans outside his trousdale home, when he was asked if he owned a house in palm springs. his cute reply was,"oh we have a little pup tent we camp in the roadside.":D :D :D

He was one funny bastard!!! LMAO!!! Ya gotta love him just for that :D :D
Don't know if anyone read/heard this one....on the set of Clambake Charlie Hodge received two buckets of water on his head (by Red West if I remember right), then he hung his shirt to dry near the heater. He went back to check it every hour and it stayed as wet as in the beginning. Then one time he was going to check he saw Elvis spraying the shirt with the thing that is used to wet the grass, lmao. That goof  I love him to bits, lol.
Yeah, Elvis had a wonderful sence of humor. I laughed my *** out when I read this story: Every year Elvis would invite friends and fam. for Christmas and they all would get a good filled envelope. One year (don't know what year) he thought of doing it different. When they all were present Elvis gave them the wellknown envelope and Elvis all cracked up when he looked at the disopointed faces when the envelopes were opened. All that was in the envelope was a cheque for a free dinner at McDonalds. LOL. Ofcourse later on they got the real envelope. I wished I could have been there.

Elvis also had great sayings, like this one: Don't raise your nose to high. You could break your neck or: Son, don't talk about something that you don't understand.

I have the "TTWII"special edition DVD and when Elvis was singing... (I don't know if I should post this but I'm gonna take a chance with i) "Love Me" instead of singing the normal lyrics he said, "If you ever go, darling I'll be, oh, so horney...." I started cracking up! I recommend this to everyone (If you don't already have it) because Elvis really lets loose in this movie. Some of the things he says in it are really funny.

My favorite one are:
1. I Got A Woman (From the three cd set TTWII, Elvis says after the song...."Welcome to the International. "Hello There you big Mother.." "Try put that in the film")
2. The Next Step Is Love (From the Movie TTWII during the line...."And the Next Step Is Love so what are we waiting fer"
3. Robin poem (on the cd Cut Me and I Bleed)
4. Are You Lonesome Tonight? (tied between the one that is on Legendary Performer Vol. 4, Omaha 77 Concert, and Rapid City Concert.)
5. Promised Land (On the cd Cut Me and I Bleed)

The Next Step Is Love (From the Movie TTWII during the line...."And the Next Step Is Love so what are we waiting fer"
Then he follows that up with "The next step is sex" which I always thought was funny. I miss that footage in the new version, but I still have my old VHS at least.
A funny joke that was played on Elvis was told by Linda Thompson in the Hopkins book. When Elvis wanted to show her off in her Miss Tennessee crown and everything to everybody. Linda got all spiffed up and came down the steps. Then she said "Is this what you had in mind honey?" and smiled really big, and to everyone's shock she had her two front teeth blacked out!

I love to hear him laugh
He had a really infectous laugh had'nt he...puts you in a good mood straight away!!
Here are some of my funniest Elvis moments:
1. During TTWII, when his microphone would not work.... and he went back and tested another 3 (hello, hello, hello), of which another was dead and then came out with 4 microphones in his hand saying "In 1956............."
Also in Elvis on tour when he picked up a pair of knickers off the stage and said "Are these yours honey?":P
Some of his movies are also very funny especially Stay away joe and Live a little love a little (the dream sequence is really funny)(y)
Nice talkin Elvis with everyone here

OoO! I forgot. I have this book called, "Elvis, Word for Word." and it has things that Elvis had said during his lifetime. One time at one of his concerts he said,
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the International. My name is Frankie Avalon. I'd like to tell you, those that got kissed, that I have the flu. And I'll be around in the back later. I usually make the rounds, up in the balcony, you know. I'm a lying som-*****, ain't I?" :lmfao:
This book is really good and a lot of stuff in it shows Elvis' humorous side.

Not too sweet ......The Sweet inspirations.
His quips and lyric changes reveal a man with a great, if rather wacky, sense of humour
