I just bought Memories the 68 comeback special, On Stage remastered and expanded, and Elvis In Concert yesterday,so that brings my collection up to a whopping 8! Lol. Any way my question is on the In Concert CD, some of the tracks have a fuzzy, unclear sound, an they kind of cut in and out. Two examples off the top of my head are See See Rider-the first minute or so is pretty unclear but then it gets better. The second is Can't Help Falling In Love-the whole song just fades in and out. I am wondering if it is my CD or if they are all like this, because since I paid 26 dollars it would be dissapointing if the sound wasn't a little better. Memories and On Stage sound great by the way! Sorry for the long post

The Elvis In Concert CD definitely has inferior sound to the others you named. The others have been released or upgraded more recently, but I think it is also an issue with the original recording and mixing. (The On Stage LP had a much cleaner sound than the EIC album, as a case in point.) And for whatever reason, the second LP / the second half of the CD is not as good as the first.
Hopefully FTD before too long will give this material the treatment it deserves.

Thanks for the reply Lonnie! Glad to know it wasn't just my copy. It kind of bugs me that for 24.99 + tax they wouldn't have a new remastered version out. All well, there is still a lot of good music on it and there is a lot worse ways to spend 26 bucks, so it's okay. Like you said, maybe someday it will get remastered. Thanks Again!

One thing that's strange about EIC is the fact that a lot of the musician's parts were re-recorded later. Is it true that this was due to Felton accidentally erasing some of the parts on the multitrack tape? If any one has any information - please post!
I just know it does not have a natural sound, when compared to the other live albums. It sounds like the music was tacked on later.
Thank God Elvis' voice didn't get erased!

nashvillecat,
That's what I thought. The CD has a very weird sound to it. Glad to know I'm not going crazy!

They had to re-record a lot because they f***ed up the recordings in Omaha like Elvis has f***ed up his performance. RCA took only Elvis' voice and recored the whole other stuff again and didn't even use Elvis' tourband and original backup singers. That's why it sounds a little bit strange. The only recordings that sound good are the ones from the tv show (or the first LP of the set). It could have been done a lot better!
