A group of fans in London known as ``Elvisly Yours``, commissioned a life-size bronze statue of Elvis on January 8th, the statue was unveiled and donated to a local radio station.
*****************
Ronnie McDowell, who supplied the singing voice for Kurt Russell in the 1979 ABC-TV movie ``Elvis``, also supplied the singing voice for Don Johnson in NBC`s ``Elvis & The Beauty Queen``.
*****************
Over 300 tapes from the long running broadcasts of the ``Louisiana Hayride`` has been preserved and donated to the oral history collection of the state archives. David kent, owner of the Louisiana Hayride nightclub near Bossier City says ``I couldn`t bear to think that these tapes would be lost. I want to share them with the people of Louisiana to whom they really belong``.
*****************
In San Jose, California, if you look hard enough, you`ll find a street named after the king. ELVIS DRIVE.
*****************
I recently learned that Graceland had been re-zoned for business and is tentatively scheduled to open to the public around May 1st. No word about exactly what rooms we will be allowed to visit has been announced.
*****************
Home TV Cable subscribers are indeed fortunate in recent months. Showtime, Cinemax and Home Box Office have shown ``VIVA LAS VEGAS``, ``JAILHOUSE ROCK``, and ``DOUBLE TROUBLE``. February`s feature on HBO was ``THIS IS ELVIS``. Words has it that ``THAT`S THE WAY IT IS`` isn`t far behind. If you subscribe to cable TV, check your local listing for an address and write to thank them for their consideration to the Elvis world.

*****************
Another major motion picture about Elvis is in the works. Its title is simply ``E``. This film is an adaptation of Jerry Hopkins`second novel, ``Elvis, The Final Years``. Joe Esposito, Elvis`` road manager is reported to have been hired as consultant and technical advisor.
*****************
The Elvis fans of Pittsburgh, Pa, recently dedicated their plaque commemorating Elvis` performances at the Civic Arena is the result of a project sponsored by a local fan club, ``Elvis` Little Buddies``. Club member, Priscilla Parker reports that on the day of dedication, Jan. 8th, there was a great turnout by the area fans and local news media.
*****************
Two co-producers of the Broadway musical hit ``Annie`` were sentenced in Boston Federal Court to six months in jail for their roles in selling phony tax shelters usiong a non-existent Wyoming coal mine. Among the 800 victims bilked out of 20 millions dollars in the scheme was Elvis Presley, who reportedly invested more than 500,000$.
*****************
Rolling Stones magazine ran excerpts of Albert Goldman`s book, ``ELVIS``. Thier mail response for running the article surpassed anything in Rolling Stones`s recent history. Allnegative.
*****************
Speaking of Goldman`s book, plans are underway to make a major motion picture based on the book`s text. In light of the poor response a great movie about Elvis (``THIS IS ELVIS``) received at the box-oofice. It may be better for all concerned if Goldman`s farce were reconsidered for the trash can.
