Elvis
Donderdag 22 december zendt Veronica om 20.30 uur Elvis By The Presleys uit.

Vervolgens komt omstreeks 21.45 uur Elvis: The ?68 Come Back Special aan bod.

Thanks CBC,

Too bad it's always the same old stuff, right? Except for Elvis By The Presleys, okay... Heavily edited probably, just as Aloha the last time around.

Same old stuff? There should be at least some interesting footage and sound on both the Comeback Special and the Aloha show..?

I think we're actually making progress here - Veronica is a typical station for 'the young and the wild, who live fast and die young' - know what I mean?

It is usually an accepted thesis that Elvis is neither hip, nor Britney Spears enough for boys and girls of my generation - but it appears that the ageless qualities of the King are finally being noticed by 'the young ones'.

Not what I meant exactly I'm afraid.

It's cool to have our man on tv, no doubt about that. But the Veronica station (as most commercial stations everywhere) have to deal with a strict time schedule obviously and because of that they choose to program something but heavily edit the broadcast at the same time.

That's why I referred to the editing part in my first post. I say, if you don't feel you have the time don't present it to your viewers at all!

My other remark is concerning the fact they give us (the fans, we are the ones waiting for Elvis, right?) the same movies or concerts over and over again.
Aloha was on the same network in August! And it wasn't much fun to watch with songs and dialogue cut!

But, I'm with you when you say it's a very good thing that Elvis is upthere along with the likes of Spears and Williams! Very nice indeed!

There was a very nice add in the Veronica magazine. I will put it up here in a couple of minutes.

You're lucky people! Elvis tv-shows as Xmas presents. (y) :cold:
I like the idea of watching all those programs about my dear Elvis. Here in M?xico it's almost the same. We are able (only) to watch movies or anything else referred to the "king" on august or maybe january. Same movies and concerts.
We (fans) are lucky if national networks prepare their own tv-shows, but as usual, they only display same photos, same music and same all that stuff. :)

I'd love to find on t.v other sides of Elvis... I hope you understand what I mean. On Cable (paied t.v), I've seen interesting and sometimes crazy shows from differents countries, specially USA... about Elvis. So, it's not that bad. :P

I'm glad when I see or hear anything referred to :king: Whether is on the radio, t.v or newspapers.

Makes me wonder, what would be an ideal Elvis TV night?

Any ideas?:hmm:

It would definetely have to include TTWII!!

Although I won't watch myself, I always find it a cool idea that Elvis is on tv and probably also will be watched by non-Elvisfans :D

Thank you for explaining on that subject, Sonny. I do think that you're right; they shouldn't skip monologues and songs! There's so much Elvis to see and hear..

It's very nice to see that Elvis isn't forgotten in these troubled times out of which there will emerge a New World Order; another reason to be proud of him.

Since I refused to buy "Elvis by the Beaulieus" when it first hit the stores, I can't judge what they edited out. I watched it and of course it was Pris' reworked version of the truth, but - different than I expected - it wasn't as negative about Elvis as I feared. I suppose they edited those things out?:hmm:

I agree it was a very good broadcast last night!

The 68 Comeback was compiled of footage taken from the Special Edition dvd box and was just great to watch!

Well I watched and I had a great night. First of all I never saw Elvis by the Presley's (Although I have the DVD.) It was a great doc. I must say. Now non-Elvisfans can finally see and hear how Elvis was, so that they better understand the man Elvis. I sometimes had a hard time and had to cry hard. Especially When they talked about the final days of Elvis life (and they showed Elvis last concert, singing My way.) and about the way they still celebrate Christmas like they did when Elvis was alive. Only with one difference: Elvis is missing. I always feel an emptyness, because I still miss Elvis a lot and Christmas is special to me too, because it's also my birthday. sadly I have three empty places now. My mum died in 1994,one brother died in 2003 and my dad died this year. So I can understand how the Presley's must feel. I mean, I can feel their pain. Ofcource, the comeback special is great. Whowee  Mann, does he look great there. And The Alaha from Hawaii is just awsome. I melt everytime I see him there. wow.
It would be nice indeed if they would broadcast other concerts too or doc's like: Elvis, he touche me or TTWII or movies like: Charro, Change of habit etc.

Be safe and take care,

Christel
