Hi friends,

With all the buzz on the internet about the "On Tour Rehearsals" dvd's, I thought it would be a nice thing to celebrate my 30th birthday with sharing some amazing footage.

This video shows us Elvis with the TCB-band and JD Sumner & The Stamps rehearsing "Burning Love". The sound and imagequality is really great. Hope everybody enjoys it.

Works for me!

Thank you very much. A great video.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the content, you can tell that boy aint right. Elvis' very uninspired performance of "Burning Love" is a farcry from the happy, energetic and endlessly playful Elvis of "That's The Way It Is" -- just two years earlier. He's not the same man here. Not by a long shot. And it carries over into the thin singing. Elvis really didn't want to be doing this song. Ah well.

I understood that Elvis really didn't like this song. Must have killed him to have it do so well on the charts and then have to sing it in concerts...although I'm glad he did because his version on Aloha is what made me a fan!!

One would think that he lacks energy as it is only a rehearsal/taping so perhaps the repetative nature of this was becoming boring.

Hardly, this was only a day or two after recording it!

Heyyyyy!!!??? Why do you guys say he didn't like this song? Was it written anywhere? :( it's the first time I hear he didn't like it :( that is extremely sad, because that is one of my very favorite songs of all times...and he looks extremely sexy in this video, my boy my boy, lol
Oh well.... :'( :'( :'(

Actually is it written in a book that he hated the song and didn't know why it became number 1. Ask Elvis friends, I got video somewhere in my library where Sonny, Red, and Lamar said they Elvis hated this song. He really hated how he sounded on this song.

Well, that's some striking news for me. And I've always thought he sounds great on that song. All versions that I have of it

I've always thought that to Indre, he did sound a bit different on the studion verion, but the live version of the song is great.

I like this song too but he did seem to forget the lyrics alot, ie On Tour, Aloha rehearsal and a few recorded cd concerts. Did he perform it that often, or was it, like you said, his attitude towards the song? Or maybe both.
Sometimes it happens with famous songs. Johnny Cash didn't really like" I Walk The Line" and was suprised it was a hit. Foreigner hated "Waiting for a Girl Like You" and yet it was a hit. Same thing with Cheap Trick and " The Flame"
You never know.....

He performed the song quiet a bit in 1975 especially in the summer of '75 and he also did it a couple of the 1st tours of '76, but he didn't do it much after April of 1976.

I've always thought that Elvis sounded different on the song "Way Down". Any others feel this way?

Yeah. I think he sounded quite a bit different in all those Graceland Jungle Room sessions. Sometimes in a better way befitting the song, like this one, sometimes not. Maybe his health, the drugs, his age, his emotional state, not sure none or all of the above. The x-rated version of Hurt is from these sessions and is the extreme of what you are talking about. Can't hardly listen to it.

Yeah, I have heard the x-rated version of Hurt, don't listen to it alot but it was very weird hearing it, Elvis sounded a little upset about something I think:mad: .

LOL LOL LOL
The funny thing is, I knew the lyrics by heart the third time I listened to the song!! And never forgot them :D I knowwwwww he had TONS of songs to remember lyrics to, but I think Burning Love was a quite easy one....anyway, I bet it was his attitude to it then, yeah...it's hard to learn a thing you don't like..that's a rule, lol.

I never fully understood why he didnt like this song. It would have been better for him to do more songs like 'Burning Love'. Its really a great song and his performance is awesome. One of his last true rock songs in my opinion.

It was one of those songs he hated alot. He never like how he sounded on the recordings. I just got finish reading a book about Elvis and it said when it became number 1 he never knew why it did. But when the Aloha shows came around he decided to sing that song.

As for the X-Rated Version of Hurt. Marty Lacker and Lamar Fike said one time they never knew if Elvis was serious or just playing around on that song. Sometime Elvis would joke around on songs like You Gave Me A Mountain that is on the CD Cut Me And I Bleed. But they never really know what Elvis was thinking. It was one of the rare cases that you didn't know what was going on with Elvis.

That enigmatic quality of his is very alluring. As my Jedi Master Captain Elwood was fond of saying: it's all about the music and so much more...

Didn't mean to put people in a down regarding "Burning Love" -- this video is rather enjoyable (especially for the different backing). But Elvis' performance is fairly mechanical, I think. He doesn't look or sound, to me, like he's really "into" this song. I haven't heard a single peformance that's ever made me think differently.
