Don't know if any of you have heard this or not, but Dinner At Eight is apparantly not Elvis performing, but a man whose picture is attached... his name is Larry Blong.
From what I am told, Larry performed several shows in place of Elvis during this time. They say his pictures are also confused with the real Elvis in many books and biographies.
It's rumored that Larry Blong did find this album and it struck him as something very funny! He even commented... "Maybe somebody should tell Ernst?"
This is all hearsay and has not been proven to be true from what I can tell. I personally don't believe this at all. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard of this?

I got to tell you that picture looks faked, and not very well at that.

I did hear that Elvis use several people to do shows. I don't know if they are true or not.

This is a good ftd album. I recommend it. He has a good repoire with the audience going. I like the ones where he's is (non drug related) chatty.
About the rumors, that is the most rediculous thing I ever heard. He did not use stand ins for performances. Hell, he did them feeling good, unwell, near death, and over drugged. He even was almost an hour late for one, late for several others, and cancelled them when he wasn't up to it or in the hospital. Hello, anyone seen the cbs special and all the boots from 77? I think he would have rather someone else go on that tour. If he had someone that could pull off shows for him do you really think we would have seen him do shows in the condition he sometimes was? We have audio and video to prove these shows. Wake up people and stop beleiving all this crap people dream up to cash in on Elvis.
Beleive this and you believe the guy with the styrofoam cup that some how kept a small amount of water from evaporating for 30 years, or even " Elvis is still Alive".
Sorry for ranting, but this kind of stuff is getting under my skin. :cursing:

i really like this cd. brings back memories of seeing elvis during that time. the version of HOW GREAT THOU ART will blow your hair straight back! wow. and yes, wooden heart is nice. wish this was my show, but it's not. bummer. :(
and i also remember, the bass guitarist he introduces (not jerry scheff, but another) was a black teenager who went to my school! i was SO jealous of him when he was introduced and when he talked about it at school. how he was allowed to play in a showroom underage... i just don't know.
