Here are some pets Elvis owned:

Dogs:

Baba, a Collie (while in Hollywood in the 1960's); Boy, a mutt (first dog during his childhood); Edmund, a Pomeranian (with Elvis when he died); Foxhugh, a Maltese terrier (a gift for Linda Thompson); Getlo, a chow; Honey, a puppy (a gift for Priscilla at Christmas 1962); Muffin, a great Pyrenees; Sherlock, a basset hound; Snoopy, a Great Dane; Stuff, a poodle; Sweetpea (a gift for his mother by Elvis in 1956); and Teddy Bear of Zixi Pom-Pom, a poodle (given to Elvis in Germany).

Cats:

Fluff (a gift from Elvis to Lisa Marie); Puff (another cat for Lisa Marie).

Horses:

Bear, a Tennessee walking horse; Domino, a quarter horse; Rising Sun, a palomino; plus 18 other horses.

Miscellaneous:

Scatter, a chimpanzee; peacocks; a mynah bird known to say, "Elvis go to H*ll!"

Scatter, a three foot, 40 pound chimpanzee, had been a TV star on a Memphis show before coming to live with Elvis at Graceland and in Los Angeles.

I read somewhere that Elvis had a spider monkey during the time that he lived on Audubon Drive. I've only read it in one source... anyone else ever heard this before?

Thanks so much for this post Tommy. I've seen pictures of Lisa with the cats but didn't know whether it was when she still lived at Graceland with Elvis or not.

I'm a great lover of animals and birds too and turn to them quite often when I need a break from us humans. I have cats, a dog, a horse, peafowl, diamond doves, pigeons, angel fish and koi. The cats are undoubtedly my greatest comfort.

I also read he had some chickens for his mother and some donkeys for a while after they moved to Graceland. I do remember reading about Bow Tie.:) Cute name!

I recall reading he also owned a big Danish dog called Ruffus. He was in a film with Elvis. I think it was in Paradise Hawaiian style.

glad to hear Elvis owned a basset named Sherlock...

I don't think it's a total coincidence that when it was time for my family to get a dog I chose a hound dog...
