I have had two of these photos for a very long time, but never knew at what date they were taken. When I stumbled upon one more of them on Stacy's site (http://elvis.fan-sites.org) I decided to find out when and when they were taken.

It turns that Elvis paid a visit to the Mid-South Fair i Memphis together with Nick Adams. This weeks seems to have been a busy one for Elvis. On Sunday he flew from Hollywood to Memphis. Wenesday he drives to Tupelo for his famous State Fair appearance. Saturday drives back to Memphis. Sunday he flies back to Los Angeles. I guess this was the life of Elvis Presley...

Anyway I did some more research and it also turns out that this particular year the fair turn 100 years. In "Over $17,000 in premiums were given away that year. But perhaps the climatic ceremony of the Centennial Celebration was the time capsule being buried on the fairgrounds, which will be opened in 2056." Also, Anita Wood won the beauty contest (of course Elvis didn't know her at the time!)

Elvis looks so good in this outfit, and he seems to have a good time with Nick Adams (something he always seems to have with him, despite everything that has since been said about Nick's motives to hang out with our man). Do anyone have more photos from this event? Or of Elvis wearing this outfit at an other time?

Thanks for the great pictures. I hadnt seen them before. I don't know what to make of Adams, but im fairly sure he saw Dean and Elvis as steps on a ladder which he hoped to climb someday.

Thanks for you replies guys, no problem I am just happy to show you guys

I believe that one is from the set of Love Me Tender (which still is very close in time though, and a great shot, thanx for posting!!). The shirt Elvis wore at the fair was indeed white, but there is some sort of decoration on the front. Actually, I just noticed that it seems to be an inverted version of this one

Right now my interest have really grown, I am very interested in seeing other photos of Elvis wearing this shirt in private (black or white)... Have I managed to rub off on anyone else? :D

Yes I noticed that after I posted my photo that the shirt had a design in it. Sorry.

Thank you for the story,

Linda,

I wish I could remember now where it was, but one some site or another (or perhaps somewhere on this one) I've seen several, fairly high quality images from right around this time. And I believe he was wearing that same white shirt. Most were taken at the Audubon Drive house, and Nick Adams was with him--I'm pretty sure the one featuring the two of them on the motorcycle that you posted was among the bunch.

If I find them, I'll let you know.

Thank you!! I hadn't really thought of looking there, I sort of just assumed that I wouldn't find any more photos of Elvis wearing this shirt, on my computer. But I went thought my Audobon folder and found two more. Where these sort of the ones you were thinking of? (but in lesser quality)

That one in color is new to me--it's a great one too! The other looks like the ones I am thinking of, but if it is, it's been cropped. The ones I recall were pretty wide images, if I'm not mistaken.

I looked in eppg and Candid Central and didn't see them in either place, FYI.

I found three photos of Elvis wearing the dark shirt. He is posing with his new merchandice, his Elvis-Presley-shoes. And after looking further, it seems like he is wearing them in the first pictures, from the fair. WOW, he sure knew how to dress!! Hehe...

Thanks for looking, Lonniebealestreet (sorry don't know your real name! :()!! Hopefully you can find them!

You're welcome, Linda. I haven't been much help though and I need to run now. I'll try looking more for you later.

Good luck,

When Nick met Natalie Wood, he said he was going to stick so tightly to her, he'd be hanging off her bra straps--that's how hungry he was to use various people as step ladders--to get his "big break"--he was obsessed with making it. So maybe he started out using Elvis and Elvis eventually became one of the only true friends he ever had in hollywood.

He also threatened Natalie to get him a part in a movie or else he'd tell the press things about her that they would just eat up--and Robert Wagner, Natalie's then husband, had to tell him to hit the road with his lawyer.

He used people. Plain and simple.

Yeah I agree Stacy. I think that as you said, Elvis was probabaly one of his true friends, but I don't know whether he was one of Elvis', if ya know wot I mean?

Elvis was obviously impressed by Adams, due to him acting and knowing James Dean, and Elvis probabaly really enjoyed hanging out with someone who knew James Dean, although little was Elvis or Adams for that matter to know that Elvis' star would shine brighter, higher and longer than Dean's.

I think this is the shirt. Here he flashes those pearly whites with a Tennessee State Police Captain's badge pinned on his shirt. This was a small photo, not that good of quality, had to blow it up some.
