I am setting out to start working on a project... unsatisfied with all films trying to tell the story of Elvis, I want to create an independent film that will be based on the the book "Last Train To Memphis". I think that Peter Guralnick did a wonderful job on his research and I believe that someone should bring this story to life in a true, respectful, fan-appreciated style. This is my goal.

There will be no "fictional add-ins" or exaggerated story lines to make the film more "viewer friendly" (is that what they say in Hollywood?), it will be completely based on the best factual sources I can get.

Don't know yet who will be cast in this film, but I want someone who is real and who is a fan of Elvis. Not some yack-mouth, immature, model that has no respect for the man and the music.

I will keep you all updated on the progress of my film and would love any and ALL the advice you can give! Tell me what you'd like to see in this movie to make it the best biography film ever produced on our hero. I want this to be your movie. The FANS movie!!!

So, I ask you, HOW CAN I MAKE THIS THE BEST FILM EVER????

Thank you, guys!!! Let's keep him alive!!!

Just want to tell you im very interested in the part.Im a singer songwriter musician in my 20's.Ive been an Elvis fan since i was a kid.Ive done shows in memphis before with the likes of the Jordanaires,d.j Fontana etc... and im not an impersonator. No jumpsuits or any of that.Im friends with a lot of Elvis' innercircle and have great knowledge about Elvis as an entertainer and as a person and i have a very great amount of respect for him.Id like to audition for the part.It has always been my dream to play Elvis in a part that would be accurate yet respectful.Im also an actor.I had this idea myself but had no way to make this dream come true.Maybe we could do this together and bring the fans and the family something to be proud of.

What a fantastic Idea (y)

I always think that when a film is made the first thing they get wrong is the the Southern hick syndrome, where Elvis is portrayed as some simple Hillbilly

This man had charisma and talent by the bucket load and would never have lasted as long as he did in a industry that can chew you up and spit you out in the time it takes to blink an eye.

For me there needs to be gritty realism whilst portraying his southern attributes.

Good look and keep us updated.

I SECOND THAT MATT!!!! (y)

The only thing that I would like to see from your movie Nathan is a completely UNBIASED telling of the Elvis story...no slant to Priscilla's side, no slant to the Memphis Mafia's side, no slant to EPE's side (which would basically mean skipping everything in Elvis' life after the ALOHA FROM HAWAII special), etc. Tell the story AS THE MAN LIVED IT!!!!

Personally, I think if you can do that Nathan, you will create the BEST ELVIS FILM EVER!!!! ;)

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU IN YOUR ENDEAVOUR!!!! :notworthy

I completely agree!!! I want to take a gritty, raw and real perspective on this film. Something very UNLIKE what we have seen before. I will be focused mainly on the early years of his life and his rise to fame. I've been thinking about how I'll shoot the scenes... what kind of film to use, etc. I've thought of filming in black & white, something that hasn't been done before.

Also, I don't want to rush through this movie in a hurry to point out different events... such as the latest CBS film. I felt like every scene moved to quickly as though they couldn't wait to get to the next. No, this film will not be rushed. This will be almost in REAL TIME!

As far as an update goes, right now I'm focused on forming the budget and finding locations. I'm also looking into finding investors to help back the film. Again, please send me all your suggestions and ideas that you may have. I want this to be a TRUE TRIBUTE to our hero, Elvis Presley.

i am with you, no fiction, base it on the facts. give the public the REAL Elvis, not the parody of swivelling hips, cheese burgers, overdone jumpsuits, and a fat man mumbling 'thank ya very much'. NO! i'm sick of that! i hate it! i have read careless love and it is the finest biography of Elvis ever! if you are going to bring it like that, i am with you man. i'm 15 years old, and my generation are in to the kind of crap music they do, and they think that Elvis is a joke. the real Elvis needs to be revealed NOW!

but. can i ask, how are you going to do this? this is a massive production to take on, if you can do it, that will be awesome. (y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)

Great idea to make a movie based on the Guralnick Last train to Memphis. If you can manage to give the movie the same feeling as the book , that would be great. You ve got yourself a real challange. Stick to your basic idea and find people who have the same point of view to help you out. A movie for and made by the fans(y)
