View Full Version : Kurt vs. Michael
Hi Guys,
Just as a follow on to a couple of threads on the Forum surrounding "Elvis - The Movie", "Elvis - TV Series ('90)" and "Elvis - The Mini Series ('05)", I think I can safely summarise that a lot of us prefer either Kurt Russell or Michael St. Gerard's portrayal of 'The King' as opposed to Jonathan 'what's-his-name' in the recent TV series.
So, guys whose it to be then? Do you prefer Kurt in the TV-Movie or Michael in the TV Series ('90)?
I go for Kurt - he kept up the excitement and brought quite a bit of depth to his portrayal, I think. How bout you?
Cheers,
NEA.

No contest. Kurt did well in his portrayal, Michael looked like a sleazy rendition.

I go for Kurt over Michael
I loved Kurt.
Maybe, it was because I felt like he "knew" Elvis .
As a child he was in movies with EP. Never heard a bad word from him about EP either.

Yeh I'd have to say Kurt.I remember buying the LP for the movie and how disapointed I was when I found out it was not Elvis singing but that of Ronnie McDowell, way back in 1979:lol:
I think Michael looked alot more like EP, but Kurt had his movements, speech, and attitude down better.

kurt for me. He conveyed the essence of Elvis' personality quite convincingly, and in profile he looked a lot like Elvis.

This, in my opinion, is why Kurt was a better 'Elvis'. He had the little details down perfect and he had the best walk!

Kurt didn't walk at all like Elvis.
It even annoyed me the way he walked.
Elvis walked like a cat.
Elegant. He was even sexy while walking.
Kurt walked like an elephant.
Srry nothing against Kurt and he did a good job but he overacted a bit and was not at all looking like Elvis.
But who is?
I think it is pretty risky to portray him because he was one of a kind to say the least.
Elvis was much more refined in looks, voice, gestures and movements.
Kurt couldn't offer that .

I think Kurt got the part just because he kicked Elvis. I don't like watching copycats. Some try to look like Elvis but they cannot sing like Elvis.

Kurt wins for me. Awesome actor, and he actually met Elvis while he was filming It happened At the worlds Fair...he was the kid that Elvis pays to kick him:lol: .

I think Michael looked more like Elvis, but I liked Kurt in The movie, when it first came out, but when I watched it again recently I didn't like Kurt as much in it  and the movie had a lot of errors in it...
