Hound Dogs

Hi Folks,

I'm brand new here but glad to be here. Let me apologize in advance if I post in the wrong spot or repeat age old questions that you'all have already been over.

I was just reading about Getlo.

Did Elvis ever own a hound dog..a basset or bloodhound? I'm an Elvis fan and a fan of these dogs. I collect photos of Elvis with hounds.

Does anyone know?

I know that Elvis did own a number of dogs throughout his life and career, but I'm not very good at naming the breed of them.

In "Jailhouse Rock" there are a couple of basset or bloodhounds (not too sure, but same breed of dog that Elvis sang to on the 'Steve Allen Show') but I don't know if they belonged to Elvis or not.

If you've seen his 1965 film "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" and the obvious scene that springs to mind is in the helicopter with a number of dogs, I do believe that either all of them or at least 2 of them were his pets.

And, of course, who could forget the 1968 movie "Live A Little, Love A Little" which co-starred his Great Dane, 'Brutus' (known as 'Albert' in the movie)...I do believe that 'Brutus' had a partner and her name, I think, was 'Snoopy' (?) and she was known as Lisa-Marie's pet.

And, finally, as you mentioned there was poor 'Getlo'.

I believe Getlo was the last dog that Elvis owned and was a red or golden Chow. There is a photo with Elvis and the dog on stage in the late 70's. Unfortunately I don't know how to upload this photo for you. Maybe someone else can?

Thank you NEA for the picture of Getlo for tjs. The pair of dogs in Jailhouse Rock were Bassets as well as the hound dog on the Steve Allen show and none of the dogs were owned by Elvis. If someone out there knows differently please let us know.

...there was a bloodhound in Kissin' Cousins... but i was wondering about if Elvis personally owned any...
