well becoz Elvis made so many recordings in his life, i can not pick one ALL TIME fave, but my fave studio recording at the moment is tommorow is a long time, which i sing alot on guitar and to myself at the moment. Elvis just puts so much feeling and tenderness into it, its just beautiful. my fave live recording would have to be POLK SALAD ANNIE, becoz of the different variations over the years. i like to sing the 1970 version, just so cool, but also the 1972 version is a hunk a rocknroll, and the spring tours version just goes off!

If I Can Dream. It's just a very heartfelt, emotion-filled song, and I could listen to it on repeat for hours. I think I'll go do that now. :)
P.S. Annie

Cant just say that there is one song, that varies from time to time. Of course P olk S alad Annie is favo of mine. But at this time I think Stranger in my own home town is the no. 1. But that can be different tomorrow.

Live - I can't stop loving you
Nobody ever mentions this, but this is a great song. Elvis really enjoys singing it, you can hear it, it has a nice climax and I love the great endings, specially in his March 74 tour. He did this song very often! Just listen to the version on As Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis
Studio - All the material from 1969/1970
Ok, pick one from each year
1969 - Any day now
1970 - Mary in the morning
Overall winner: Any day now, because it's a perfect song to underline the New Elvis by the end of the sixties He wanted to record some good quality songs, and not the moviesong-s**t.....listen to the alternate takes, the passion!!!

Wow, it's pretty hard to choose a favorite Elvis songs because he's got so many good ones.
Of the slower songs I really like Can't Help Falling In Love, Just Pretend and If I Can Dream. I also like songs like Bridge Over...., How Great Thou Art, You Gave Me A Mountain and American Trilogy.
Of the faster songs some of my favorites are Suspious Minds, Polk Salad Annie and gold old Jailhouse Rock.
But there aren't many Elvis songs I don't like. Maybe that's a good idea for a topic, I bet the list will be much shorter for most people. :D

I would have to say that one of my all-time favorite songs is You'll Never Walk Alone! I never tire of listening to this one. Elvis sings it with such emotion that it just gives me the chills every time that I hear it.

These are the ones I keep coming back to again & again.
Help Me Make It Through The Night, which is just phenomenal as a song (Kris is a genius) AND as a performance by Elvis. The way his voice cracks on the line "for tonight I need a friend" is pure, unadulterated soul singing.
And I Love You So as performed on the Elvis In Concert album. I saw Don Mclean last year & I have to admit that I welled up when he started this one (and again with Vincent, American Pie & several others).
Unchained Melody, the Moody Blue version. Now, I know this is overdubbed & all, but this adds rather than detracts from this incredible, basically pure gospel performance.
There are loads of others, but these are permanently at the top for me.
If I was facing a firing squad & had to pick one to save my life, it would be Help Me Make It Through The Night.

My new favorite - this is one that "blindsided" me. I've heard "I'm Leaving" a million times then suddenly - I'm floored - this is clip is by reeltidymusic and is just great - I had to pull out the kleenex!
And really, haven't we all learned not to ask for just one Elvis favorite anything? Elvis is like Lay's Potato Chips - there is no such thing as just one!:lmfao:
*Next would be most anything from my favorite album "Moody Blue"
*From the Movies - "Because of Love"

I will answer the question this way.
I love watching Elvis sing Gospel, because of the pleasure it gives him.
So, rather than just one song, I'd say Gospel.
If I had to tie it down to one song, I would say, this one, as she is a family song, and so, so, true.

Lea, (y) You are not the only one! I'm Leaving is my song this week. Ain't that Loving You, Baby was my rocking song a couple of months ago. I love Sylvia, it happens to be my supervisor's name. She's a huge Elvis fan, too, but I don't think she's familiar with the song, cause Sylvia from the song was a real 'ballbuster'! There's just too many songs to have one favorite!

All I get is just ONE????????? No way can I narrow it down to just one!!! That's like trying to find the answer to the impossible....lol.....I tend to have the song of the moment, even though that moment may last weeks or just days at a time. Right at this moment, I am loving Long Black Limousine b/c I cannot get enough of the Memphis Sessions CD. ;););)

i think it depends on my mood but most times i'd say it's Tomorrow Never Comes. that's one hard question because there are songs like You'll be Gone or That's Someone You'll Never Forget, If I Can Dream Wearing the Loved on Look, Power of My Love, Stranger in my Own Home Town, Unchianed Melody, Just Pretend, Patch it up, Polk Salad Annie. that i can just listen to over and over again.
The man was just brilliant no matter how many times you hear a song you can hear something new in it.

I have many many favourites (I can't mention only one), but my all time favourites are "The Wonder Of You" (that was the performance in TTWII when I felt first time this man stole my heart forever), "If I Can Dream" (from the 68 Comeback), "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (I will never forget this performence and his innocent child-look in TTWII), "Suspicous Minds", "What Now My Love" (from the Aloha concert), "One Night", "Jailhouse Rock", "Are You Lonesome Tonight" (especially the laughing version), "Crying In The Chapel", "Somebody Bigger Than You And I", "My Way", "American Trilogy". And many many more...

got that right, when it comes to songs we don't like - most everyone points to Old MacDonald or Queenise WAhanie, me - (n) My Little Friend. can't explain it but i don't feel like Elvis liked it much either.
I love Patch It Up, this is my new Favorite! I also like watching the audience as he performs the song, those two girls at the beginnning who are just dancing away - Gail/Roseanne? anyone ya'll know? I also love the man at 2:10(y) awesome! Elvis just had "it"
